Is it true to say that any openwrt compatible WiFi router is capable of running the WiFi pineapple firmware?

Or are there other prerequisites?

One feature you have to keep in mind is the dual radios.  Info can be found on the Wiki https://wifipineapple.github.io/wifipineapple-wiki/#!hardware.md

You might be able to load the firmware but without the compatible hardware features will be limited.

yes and no it will only work with the AR71xx as that is what all the HAK5 added software is programed for.
