M47H3W Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 (edited) About a month or so ago, DIRTBox/DRTBox devices started appearing all over the news. they target cell phone service by pretending to be a cell phone tower to track people. You can read more about it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dirtbox_(cell_phone) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stingray_phone_tracker http://www.allgov.com/usa/ca/news/top-stories/lapd-has-had-stingray-on-steroids-surveillance-equipment-for-a-decade-150812?news=857184 What are your thoughts on this? Molotof Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 These are government boxes to track large groups in demonstrations and such without profiling or check points. IMEI is your electronic biometric, since apple started randomizing MAC addresses so big Bro had to find another way to put a PIN on your movement. Quote

Rainman_34 Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 The DRT does not actually track your cell phone. I can tell what tower it is using which allows them to pin point a general area. However you can not find someone with a DRT. Also in order to decrypt your traffic they must have more information. Quote
