google_pro Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I am having issues connecting to my pineapple V via ethernet. I set my ip to 172.16.42.42/24 and tried other addresses in the subnet. I am also unable to get a dhcp address. I can however connect to it just fine via wifi and mange it that way. Latest firmware and everything. If I put it in recovery mode (or whatever it's called to upload the new stager) I can connect in the 192 range. So I know the ethernet port is functional! Any insight guys? Thanks! Quote
thesugarat Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 172.16.42.42 at 255.255.255.0 is what the eht0 port is set to. That's it... no dhcp unless you've done some serious tweaking of your network settings. If you set that up and getting to the management page gives you an error, tell us what error you get. What happens when you try to ping? Quote
google_pro Posted February 25, 2014 Author Posted February 25, 2014 Thanks for your reply! Ok I set my IP to 172.16.42.2 and tried to ping 42. It just times out. My manual that came with the pineapple says to plug in an ethernet cable and it will assign a dhcp addressin the 172.16.42.0/24 range. It then says to go the the pineapple admin page at 172.16.42.1:1471. Or "Alternatively, you can assign your computer the static address 172.16.42.42/24. That's why I was doing it the way I was. If I try it the way they suggested, even with a static on my PC, I can't ping 172.16.42.1. Quote
google_pro Posted February 25, 2014 Author Posted February 25, 2014 Just did an IP scan 172.16.42.1-254. The only device that shows up is my PC. Quote
awskier08 Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Try settings your pc is 172.16.42.42 Quote
google_pro Posted February 27, 2014 Author Posted February 27, 2014 I have tried that, along with several other addresses in that range. Quote
thesugarat Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 I think at this point screenshots of your settings may be the best route. Quote

St3v3 Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Are you guys seeing the network being reported as "Network Cable Unplugged" ? If so this looks like a major problem that is affecting quite a few units. I'm smelling a QC problem. I'm now faced with a massive hike in purchase costs (to return the unit, and pay further charges for the replacement) or just binning it. Either will leave a sour taste. :-( Quote
google_pro Posted February 28, 2014 Author Posted February 28, 2014 Quite a bit of the time it will show as disconnected. However, it doesn't work correctly when it is showing the connection as active either. I might need to send this thing back. Quote
St3v3 Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Can you connect via wifi, go to the Pineapple home screen. select the network box so that it lists all of the details (it'll show a bunch of text separated out against "eth0", "lo", "wlan0" and "wlan1"). Copy and paste that text here... Quote

thesugarat Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 (edited) St3v3 and google_pro, There is a new firmware out. If you can get to your Management page via the wlan0 broadcasted Access Point please use Client Mode to Connect to an Internet Connected Access Point and perform the firmware update. Then let us know if you are still having problems. Also, if you are still having issues don't keep using the same ethernet cable or same computer if you can help it... Also, try posting screenshots of your computers ipconfig information or screenshots of the applicable Configuration screens. Again, only if you're still having issues. google_pro Posted March 5, 2014 Author Posted March 5, 2014 Yep I've tried all of that. I just sent it back for replacement. Thanks for your help guys. Quote

If it is an ethernet issue we'll want the unit back to investigate/send back to the factory/make changes to the line. Very sorry for the inconvenience. We'll make it right. Quote
google_pro Posted March 9, 2014 Author Posted March 9, 2014 Yes sir, it was usually showing as cable unplugged. Even when I got it to show it was connected, I couldn't connect or find any devices in that network range with an IP scan. I mailed the unit in to you and noted to please test it or the replacement unit before mailing it back. I know you're busy but I hope someone can verify that I will get a properly functioning unit. I'm really excited to use my pineapple. Quote
