digip
Roll your own, or don't use proxy sites in general. If you don't know who owns them, you don't know who's sniffing your traffic. In general, VPN's and SSH tunnels are safer, and if you have to, use TOR if you have no alternatives, but even then, you are at the mercy of your exit node. Standard socks/web proxies, that offer free proxy access, are not to be trusted.
whitehat
spys.ru also there's a plugin called ProxyList for FF. if you use proxies correctly trust isn't an issue. just layer and encrypt before you send traffic thru the proxy. BlueWyvern
I agree with Digip, if you don't know who is running it you don't know who is sniffing your traffic. I think you'd be better off paying for a VPN provider.
telot
I hemmed and hawed for a long time about paying for a VPN. Living in the opensource world for so long made me hesitant to pay for anything. Since doing it though, I'll never go back - the convenience and assured security is just awesome. Highly recommend it. telot
