Rotunda
Hi all Anyone got any idea on what sort of range the AP51 hardware can do with the 5dBi antenna?? I'm going on holiday soon and the camp site where we are staying provides wifi if you pay... I'm going to tether my laptop to my 3g mobile (which has unlimited data) and share out the technolust! This will also let me test the pineapple finally in a real scenario... nothing evil just educational... Any ideas?
Mr-Protocol
It depends on line of sight and other variables. But it should cover a pretty good range. The only issue I see is, why be locked to technology while camping? That's the "get away" time from all things with blinky lights.
Molotof
Well you could find out how far the signal could go by building THIS, or by using an ubertooth in the spectrum analyzer mode. You could find an industrial field strength meter for the 2.4Ghz range but it will be very expensive. The simplest way is to use a device to connect to the mk3 and ping it from the device and keep walking away until there is no more pings. Sebkinne
Provided you have an android phone, download an app called "Wifi Analyzer". This will show you the signal strength quite well!
