zombieworld3113
Got bored, found some old hardware lying around and installed smoothwall. A bit like (Episode 7x18, Building a high performance home router) but not as compact. It works fine and cost nothing to make.
Sparda
Slot 1 ftw.
Infiltrator
Nice set up. How did you go with Smoothwall installation any issues encountered?
Netshroud
PII? wait.. why does it have a slot AND a standard ZIF socket?
Sparda
PII? wait.. why does it have a slot AND a standard ZIF socket? So you don't have to use the slot 1 adapter.
zombieworld3113
Smoothwall went straight on no issues. The motherboard is a P6BAT-ME Ver 5.4 with a P3 500MHz slot 1. One intel and one dlink network card installed. One stick of 128mb ram. The cmos battery was dead that was the only issue. Its a strange old thing thats for sure. Gadget 85
So you don't have to use the slot 1 adapter. Whaa that's a pretty neat set up for old hardware. But I have never seen a MoBo with both ZIF and Slot 1.
