zombieworld3113 Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Got bored, found some old hardware lying around and installed smoothwall. A bit like (Episode 7x18, Building a high performance home router) but not as compact. It works fine and cost nothing to make. Quote
Infiltrator Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Nice set up. How did you go with Smoothwall installation any issues encountered? Quote
Netshroud Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 PII? wait.. why does it have a slot AND a standard ZIF socket? Quote
Sparda Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 PII? wait.. why does it have a slot AND a standard ZIF socket? So you don't have to use the slot 1 adapter. Quote
zombieworld3113 Posted July 25, 2010 Author Posted July 25, 2010 (edited) Smoothwall went straight on no issues. The motherboard is a P6BAT-ME Ver 5.4 with a P3 500MHz slot 1. One intel and one dlink network card installed. One stick of 128mb ram. The cmos battery was dead that was the only issue. Its a strange old thing thats for sure. Gadget 85 Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 So you don't have to use the slot 1 adapter. Whaa that's a pretty neat set up for old hardware. But I have never seen a MoBo with both ZIF and Slot 1. Quote
