HALEN666
Do you any of you guys know how to create a virtual machine whose hard drive (the virtual one) can be in a secondary hard drive (in the real pc) in vmware server 2.3? Every time I create a new machine, vmware don't seem to see secondary or external hard drives, it just created the hard drives for the virtual machines in the primary hard drive, which is bad for performance. Thank you
Sparda
Add a second data store.
lopez1364
Good point. Attaching an external HD or an eSATA drive would work great. Make you attach it in the datastore.
VaKo
I think GSX or VMware Server 1.x allows you to create a VM that uses a physical hard drive instead of a virtual disk, but not VMware server 2. You just need to store the virtual disk on a secondary data store. DO NOT use usb external storage as the IOPS will suck, e-sata, iSCSI, SATA, SAS or FC only.
