with my computer i got 10 years again when it had windows 98 it had this program called Mega Phone on it that made the computer act just like a phone and answering machine. It was the coolest thing but I did look up that program name some time again there is a version out there for XP that I am aware of. Its a really fun program to have with a lot of features but when our answering machine died on us the computer took over for 2-3 days and worked like a charm.

so that will help with the webif problem but i do have another question, i was able to go with the original packages darren put together and i got the web interface of openwrt and all the way up to where you install jasager and move the address around at the end but when trying to revisit the web interface like Darren did it couldn't see it but i think that was a detail left out i keep hearing about a port number to see it but i haven't tried it yet.

So far I just need haserl libruby ruby webif and that should be all but if anyone cares to help by posting some links to ensure that we get the right files please do as i am getting confused having never done this before.

still after review all files that hak5 bundled together they have that Mips in almost all of the file names so yup i am gonna have to do some hunting but atleast we found out what the problem was after all this time. However I am going to be putting the newer version of jasager on my fon but a file called kmod-gpio and it has atheros and mips in the title in that order, so my guess is that it supports both?? but i do think its for that wifi light that just wont light up after the new firmware is on. anyway Thanks dijininja!

so is there somewhere that i haven't found online that talks about it and what to do to convert it over to the firmware i choose? and how easy was it for you to carry out the firmware upgrade to say openwrt or whatever it is your running? was there any problems or anything worth noting about what you did? Thanks for providing that tidbit of info tho it should save me the trouble of downgrading.

there are battery packs that you can use like those in RC cars that are about the size of a deck of cards. anyway I have the Fon 2.0 which is someone like yours, do you need to down grade? Im trying to figure out how to downgrade my particular fon and exploit the usb aspect of it.

i am just doing the same as Darren did, I am taking a fon and I am following his steps for putting Jasager on it but i think webif is the problem since everything will work fine all the way up until i try to install jasager and make that moving that web address he said to do. this is the only thing i know didnt go right since it cant download the files it is looking for so my guess is it has to be something we are doing wrong with installing webif.

but then why was these packages not included with what we downloaded from hak5?

yes but that still doesnt fix the problem with installing the packets and having those packets download whatever they need to get which is where our problem is coming from.

I have been trying to figure that one out for myself, when installing webif i have the fon plugged in with the Ethernet and allow it internet access to try to download the files its looking for but I have still gotten that output. I am currently looking up what to do about it in the hopes of figuring out whats wrong with little success. I did just post a topic in the forum about how hak5 could do a monthly call for help kinda deal with people that are having issues like us, instead of stumbling around in the dark looking for simple fix's to the problem.

I was thinking about some of these projects Hak5 has done like Jasager with the pineapple that people like myself are having strange and unusual problems with due to details either not explained in depth due to time. However I think it would be helpful if they could have maybe a monthly thing where we could call in via skype and hopefully figure out what we are missing or what is creating the problem. Yes, I do know many people have crappy microphones but maybe there could be an option to phone into skype over normal phone line. that way the hakhouse phone isnt always ringing off the hook and they can just login to skype and take a call here and there and do it on ustream so if they cant help maybe someone else can. even if nobody has a problem it would still be cool just to sit around and talk about them and what we have done in the field or even out there in the wild with our leet hacker toys!

Ok so i decided to try out the fon 2.0 beta as it is called on fon's website but the firmware is version 2.0.1 r1 and that is out of the box it has not connected to the internet. the main goal with this is to use the usb with a bit torrent client (like rtorrent)and also use jasager for being out but i would also like to configure it for a repeater when needed for the 360 on the far end of the house. If anybody has had some experience with this model PLEASE feel free to post a reply.

i have looked into that but just putting glue on every single page will get that wet book look so maybe if its hollowed out the inside can be hot glued or whatever kind of glue you would like to use but my idea was to use something like screws or nails just some that dont go all the way just take one going down through the book and another going up that way it will look normal and those pages arnt going anywhere. plus without the inside glue whatever you put inside will fit snug so nobody hears it moving around inside if your walking with it or moving it to them it should be just another boring book.

I am wanting to do a chroma key "green screen" video exectp i want to do it on the fly directly out to the web like to a site such as ustream the problem is it will only accept a hardware device like a camera or webcam i do have webcammax and vidblaster i am just messing with right now but i need to know if there is a way to get vegas to stream out (for green screen or anything else) to either one of these applications or directly. if not any ideas are welcome i just dont really want to buy some hardware that will sit around collecting dust that is why i am seeking a software solution. Thanks for any help guys.

Maybe we could use the book with the antenna inside or make a custom antenna that is built into some kinda strap like you would see around some of those mid evil type of books or a diary something along those lines.

What would be cool to do is show us how to hollow out a book like Neo did in the first Matrix movie for misc things, or just custom fit something in it like my idea was my fon router when i finally get it.

well you can add ctorrent to it and maybe the sd card could be used for something related to that, if you have like ten million torrents or something. so you can experiment with it and give it a shot and see how it works. if all else fails its not that hard to remove it and you having lost anything by trying.

I looked for any posts for how to crack a program and bypass the serial or the registration process but haven't seen any. what i think would be a good show idea is doing a segment on how to crack something like trial software, yes its a little black hat but when you lose the keys it can be a real pain that can be very costly at times.....especially more then once.

a more simple approach to getting to the site is when the site is blocked just ping hak5.org and enter the ip address in. this should work unless they are blocking the ip which isnt something normal so give it a try.

about a week ago i bought the RC-209-EX card from newegg for setting up a sata raid on my system, it only has pci no pci express. anyway i bought 4 750gig drives to go in it and made all the connections with the exception of a bad drive so no bare min of 3 (till the RMA is processed) when i try to install this card when its with the software that comes with it or just to driver itself the system locks up. after a restart its still buggy unless you go to last known working config at the startup. I research it on the customer reviews and xp which i do have on this system is buggy or not good with it but i also tried vista (YUCK!) on this system just to test if its the OS. Nope, vista was known to be working so i can see its a hardware issue but the card appears to work just find in its bios settings everything can be done except for the other part in windows. now i do have a raid controller built in to the mobo but i just use it for JBOD not a raid setup. i believe that maybe the problem but i could be wrong. any ideas?
