  1. A friend of mine just got a new laptop, and had no use for the old, so she gave it to me.  (after running DBAN of course).  So I decide I want to hook it up to my xbox 360 and get full use of that 'media center' all of the cool kids seem to enjoy.  I grab an XP disk and begin to install when I notice that the pixles for the bottom 1/3 of the screen are non existant!  Having installed windows enough times, this dident pose to much of a problem, and the way I figure it once its set up... its going to be use headless anyway.  BUT here comes the problem.  The install finishes windows boots up and the screen goes black... well the back-light or whatever goes out, so you can kind of see if you look really close, but not really.  So, I reboot with the same results.... I cannot seem to install an ftp or anything fast enough before the screen goes out.  Also, since the previous OS was wiped there are no drivers installed on it, which means, even if I could install an ftp or a RAT it still wouldent be connected :(

I tried hooking it up to a monitor, and it sends a signal, but its black.  Can anyone help me with a solution on how to get this box on the internet and get some remote tools installed!

P.S- Anyone think of a better use for an old laptop? (512mb RAM- 30gb HD, P4)

  2. To Mods: Maybe this should go in 'news', if it does move it. :)

I dont think its has been shown here yet, but a guy named Hamachiya2 discoverd a

flaw in IE 6 that will crash it.  Just one line of HTML code,

    <style>*{position:relative}</style><table><input></table>

    lolz.

From all accounts it renders fine in Opera, firefox, and IE 7

If you wish to try it out using IE 6 click below:

  3. So, my uncle paid a friend of his to archive a bunch of music onto his new Ipod (30gb).  The kid did as asked, but when my uncle went to add a few songs from his xp machine he, he was unable to.  Apparently the kid formatted the Ipod for a mac and now my uncle cannot add/modify/del ect. anything from the Ipod.  He is strictly a windows user.  So now we have a 30gb Ipod completely full of obscure indie music that has no backup.  I know there is a way to get the music off of that Ipod before formatting it on a windows machine, but for the life of me I cannot find out how, do you know?

    thanks,

  4. lol, I was doing these tests last semester.  I looked at the code, just because I was curious and found it pretty useless if you were looking for answers.  I had  a little trouble with the tricky questions, but studying usually fixes those problems.  Although in my psycology of human development class there was a similar style of quizzes.  I looked for a few days for a way to subvert the quizzes, and found, like most, a very simple one.  I wouldent try anything with the freaking cisco site, but what I did was fun.

  5. i've only seen 2/5 of your posts, but we really dont need your kind here if you want to continue posting annoying skiddie script please do it somewhere else.  It seems like you actually could make a few somewhat knowledgeable posts-  do it.

  6. 1st:  I like batch files!

2nd: Batch scripting things like that is like remembering a phone #, you don't even have to know what your doing to write that, google abit a learn if you really want to.

  7. this actually came up in IRC land the other night while I was on.  so I'll share what was given to me.

www.bb4win.org <- called Blackbox.  originally for linux, but was ported to windows.  I haven't tried it, but it looks nice.

    www.sharpe-shell.org

both I believe are opensource, so its free..

I personally use astonshell right now, and its pretty nice, yet took awhile to get the customization figured out.  price well I won't comment.

Wow, I dident even know something like this was out there.

    Very kewl :)

::will spend the next several hours in a dark room customizing shells, thanks for taking hours from my life, lol::

  8. Absolutely. Include some extras, blooper reels and we got an awesome dvd!

Yes, Yes, Yes, if you were to offer pre-orders today,

I would have already ordered. (its 8:38 am)

  9. Great episode! I thought that some of the info was

spread a little thin, but thats what hak5live is for right?

I *loved* the clifhanger at the end.

Cant Wait to see what happend!

  10. man, I like so many of them.  It was really close.  I really enjoyed the

rawness of the early season one eps. cell phone hacks etc. And 2x02

was packed full of good stuff, but when it all came down to it I had to

choose the pure pwnage episode.  I thought that was really well made.

  11. podcasting is so 2006. you gotta get with the new style. we're all moving to binary smoke signals. it's teh leetness. werd.

    stupid scene kids!

Podcasting, Vidcasting, BinSS, its all just another fad.

I take no stock in any of it, besides, next year we'll all just be back to carrier pigeon's

    anyway.

  12. Yeah, it was a great Ep.  The whole 360 scene was particularly funny.

I just think I would have enjoyed it more if part of me wasn't wondering,"So, what the hell happened",  half the time.

Yea, at first I was really confused like, 'w[here] tf did my purepwnage story line go!'

but I think that last 60 seconds was perfect.  I <3 that ep. alot!
