  1. Merry Christmas to you too bro, and all the best for the new year.

I just hope that bloody cyclone doesn't hit us.

    Amen to THAT!!!!!!

Our exchange copped a lightning strike last night and cause a spike that persuaded the dslam to backflip and take out everyones DSL.....luckily we're back online now.

Worst 24 hrs of my life...LOL

  2. I remember a program like this from many years ago by a hacker who went by the alias DarkPain.

Only it created a web server locally that ran a portscan on the connecting pc and then redirected it to whatever site you wanted.

Just thought i'd throw that in

  3. I'm finally starting to get into wifi security after putting together some useful kit, (budget constraints).

Im slowly working my way through things and ive found working through an ebook copy of Hacking Exposed WiFi 2010 is really a great help in explaining all the security aspects and in and outs of all the details.

I thoroughly recommend it as a primer if you like on eerything you need to know.

    Its awesome.

  4. English is clearly not his native language and I can see that. But give him a break for crying out loud.

At Packet, if you require further assistance please let me know and FYI, did a bit of Googling and found some of these articles somewhat helpful. Read them and see if they can help you out with your problem.

Nice one...i'm getting tired of smart assed wannabe's shit canning someone because their lingo isn't spot on.

  5. Thanks guys,

I'll look closer at these suggestions very soon.

I've decided to replace the psu on the machine with a similar ibm unit, before i go any further.

I've been looking about different forums and it was suggested that even a fuxored psu could cause all kinds of weird shit to happen.

So i've grabbed one from ebay for 40 bucks aus $ and i'll let you know how this works out.

  6. So I'm dumping some rubbish at the local transfer station and I find one of these:

    http://www.ebuysuperstore.com/shop/shopexd.asp?id=90

I figure it looks intact, so I grab it and take it home.

There's no scsi drives of any kind but everything looks to be there.

After clearing the bios and reseating everything..cpu's included with new thermal paste(they're both 3ghz xeon cpu's) etc I power it on and it posts!!!

The bios error log shows that "processor mismatch detected"...

So i follow an ibm recommendation that says to power down and remove cpu1 then remove cpu2 and place in the socket of cpu 1 and vice versa..so swapping the cpu's essentially.

Their reason, cpu2 has higher stepping than cpu1 and well this is how the board is built.

ok, so after doing this and seating everything nicely, i power on and it posts ok...same error.

I clear the bios again and ensure the psu isn't plugged in...

    same error again.

So what i'm looking for here is some advice that anyone may have when dealing with these little servers.

It's a great find and I want to use this for my home server...schweet!!

Is the error a major issue or problem?

Please help....anything advice will be much appreciated.

  7. They could probably remotely examine the processes on your pc at work to see what applications you may be running locally, regardless of the encrypted traffic its producing via the vpn.

For example...if they see crysis.exe (or whatever it may be called), I would be very suspicious as to what your up to if i monitor the traffic coming from your ip on my company network.

That's how i would think about things anyway, not so much about whats happening at the far end or in the middle, but where it all starts.

Kinda simplistic analogy but meh...that's how i tend to break things down :)

  8. Quake II is my favorite game of all time :]

Gotta say I have very fond memories of quake 2 my first graphics accelerated game i played online.

played it with a monster 3d 4meg card from 3dfx hooked onto a sis 4meg svga card via that big chunky vga cable...man those were the days

    Pic here.
