  1. Im a hardware whore and its been about six years since i've built a pc for myself from scratch.

Im still using my old dual core conroe with 4 gig ram.

so i thought i'd give myself a present.

pretty much for all round use..grunty enough to run games and a few vms along the way with a bit of future proofing and room for expansion and upgrades.

  2. Just need an opinion on these builds.

Feel free to offer constructive criticism.

  3. Well the TL-WR703N arrived from Hong Kong.

    Pretty happy with it overall.

Surprisingly good range for a strip based antenna.

I managed to turn it into a nice little PirateBox within about 15mins all up.

Really easy to follow the guide.

    Blogged about it here:

    http://dunjen.wordpress.com/2012/06/15/digital-dead-drop/

I'm thinking I'll import another very soon and see what else can be done with it.

  4. Well i successfully got metasplut and armitage to work on the vm install of backtrack5 r2.

Now i'll work on actually using it on my home network and then updating everything.

Never majorally into linux, let alone backtrack...but i thought fuck it, its about time.

thanks again for your help :)

  5. thank you very much mate, i appreciate the time you took to explain it to me.

i shitcanned the vm and i'll start again, (cool thing about vms:) )

you're defintely correct about things working from the box, as armitage and msf all work as they should when using the "live" backtrack...

i'll let you know how i went.

  6. BackTrack 5r2 in virtual box VM...

    ran msfupdate

    ran msfconsole

    tried to run armitage

    now i get :

    org.postgresql.util.PSQLException ERROR: relation "workspaces"

    the fix for this?

run msfconsole.......WHICH I ALREADY FUCKING DID!

    ran it again.......SAME FUCKING ERROR>

    RAAWRARRWRASRARRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

  7. fresh install of windows 7 x64

downloaded metasploit community edition (armitage is bundled)

    installed

    went to Framework Update

    updated all ok

Created an account using their web browser GUI and activated using a community license.

    Closed browser.

started armitage and was asked to connect to the database....

changed the details in armitage to the port that metasploit install said it was on 3790

entered the logon details for the account i created in the webgui.

armitage attempted to connect and then.......nothing....box closed... no errors...nothing.

i really haven't got a clue beyond this....

    any ideas?

  8. That is until you start bringing BYO (Bring Your Own) devices into the mix.

Companies want to enjoy the benefits of reduced costs by having their employees use their own phones for example.

They maybe subsidizing their data plan, but that shouldn't give them the right to snoop all their employees data.

If the company is supplying your hardware and your software and your pipe, well yeah they do have more rights.

  9. thanks for the response, i decided to keep the ibm on 2003 server and keep using my core2duo for vm via promox.

ive been thinking about saving for a hp microserver.

they come with the proliant server support warranty which is pretty much an "enterprise" warranty in which they actually come to your house to replace any faulty parts for you!!!

  10. Quick question, i have an old IBM xseries 226 server with dual xeon cpu's.

Unfortunately when i went to install 2008 r2 it failed, giving a mismatched cpu error.

Seems as though the cpu's revision do not match.

So i've been running 2003 server since...no problem with this.

I have been thinking of migrating physical to virtual and using vmware esxi hypervisor which requires a 64bit environment.

    The xeon's support x64.

What I wanted to know is whether the same cpu mismatch issues would occur if I install esxi.

I just want to save some time and effort; if it won't work I'm not that worried.

Anyone out there know at all?
