  1. Thanks a lot Sparda :D. The IP address thing worked but only when I turned off my software firewall. My Network Places still didn't work with the firewall off. Anyway if figured out what to allow through my firewall and it now works like a charm. Thanks everybody! :D
  2. Interesting. How might I go about doing this and would it be possible to have a network printer? (one attached to a networked computer, not one attached to the router.)
  3. I don't think so. It's a D-Link Dl-624.
  4. My laptop is connected to my wireless network. I have internet access through my (yes I'm sure it's mine) wireless router. My problem is that I can't access any of my shared folders. When I select view workgroup computers it only sees itself. My wired computers can see it but can't access any of it's files. I've tried turning off my software firewall on the laptop and I still can't see the files. What can I do?

    XP Error

When I reboot my laptop this pops up. After that it goes all wierd and doesn't work properly. I have just reformatted my computer and restored it to the factory defaults. I am pretty sure I don't have a virus as I am behind a firewall. Can I fix this? Large image can be found at http://img103.imageshack.us/img103/7066/uhohov2.jpg
  6. Correct. Or just work together to create a super CPU.
  7. Would there be any way to take all of the computers on my network and make the CPU's work together? I want to increase the speed of my video conversions. Would you need a specific converter? Would you have to write a program from the bottom up? My converter of choice would be SUPER. Basically what I'm asking is can I use the processors of the other computers on my network to increase video converting speed (or anything else that requires your processor).
  8. Ya I use Firefox, I'm just kinda attached to the old Internet Explorer logo.
  9. LOL :D Where I live there is no Daylight savings time. We're the only people in North America who don't change. :) (We're Rebels)
  10. I second the SUPER converter.
  11. !vote lock means that you want the thread locked because it is warez, illegal, pointless, etc.
  12. The next computer I get will probably be a Mac (triple boot with xp or vista, linux, and mac)
  13. You have what is called a 5.5g iPod. Within the last 2 weeks they have got it working on the 5.5g's. It is really experimental and although I am really tempted to put it on my iPod, I've decided to wait for a couple months until they iron out a few bugs. You can find their guide for installing it at http://ipodlinux.org/5.5G.
  14. You think thats a ton of snow (and it is for where you live) then you would die where I live. We have about 3 feet of snow this year and it took this blizzard to have a snow day. This is the first snow day we've had in 15 years . Here are some pics I took just now to show how much snow we have. We are also experiencing -32C (-25F) with a -40C (-40F) wind. edit: Why is there so much blank space at the bottom of my post?
  15. Thanks man! It worked and I really appreciate it.
  16. Somehow all of my folders go changed to the "list" view. Originally they were all in the "tile" view and I like it that way (call me blind). I changed 2 folders to the "list" view because they had a whole bunch of files in them and I wanted to see them all at once. Anyway, is there any was to change them all back to the "tile" view? Maybe another cool key combination Darren?
  17. Well I thought it would be cool if I made an animated .gif my background. I pull up this .gif and managed to set it as my background. It worked but was really slow and I wanted to make it faster. So I pull up Task Manager and see what process is using my cpu. I right click it and change the priority to high (ya I know really stupid). I locked up my computer, had to restart it, and spent 15 minutes trying to get rid of it. I guess that what I get for trying it on this crap box with integrated graphics.
  18. Can anybody think of some good or useful batch files? For example to backup batch file was really useful. I would be interested in any others you guys can come up with.
  19. Looks interesting. Is there any way to assign that "Drive" a letter name so I could use a batch file to back up to it?
  20. I am using a program called 3GP_Converter. I found a hack on the internet that converts it to 640x480 instead of 340x240 for the new 5.5g iPods but I've had the same problems without the hack. I used Videora for a bit but didn't really like it. Does it convert to the new 640x480 and can you encode multiple files at once? My friend said he expressed problems with Videora.
  21. Is there any way to give that process say 75% of my cpu. And if I did this it would have to make other programs use the rest not cutting into the 75%. When I was talking to a friend he said you would have to do something like that. But he didn't know how.
  22. When I convert video for my iPod the converter I use sometimes messes up the audio so that it is a couple of seconds ahead or behind the video. I was told by a friend that this usually happens when transcoding multiple videos at once. I've been doing them one at a time and it appears to be better but it's a pain because I can't really leave the computer. Would it help to do them all at once on a slower cpu or do I need to babysit them? Also would other programs using my cpu have an effect on the audio?
  23. Thanks a lot for the great feedback.
