  1. Ummm... It is not really criminal activity first off. It is a battle between a bunch of people to develop better means of hacking/security. Just something educational and such, but I didn't make a recent backup of my computer... And it was my desktop. A lot of new things actually came from it. It is better to keep it between friends... or so they say... then go hack random people and have a high chance of getting caught. It is sort of straying from criminal behavior. On the other hand, Braxton, I know what you are talking about with the small devices. A friend of mine who just got into college and I are working on things like that. Well... it is more turning his $300 cell phone into a brain for a robot... Just plug it in and the robot follows you and such, and you can still use the phone once you detach it. It is coming out quite nicely. I forgot to include Kismet in the list of programs. That is the wireless network sniffer. And dyna... Thanks for finding that site. It was not what I was looking for, but it is definitely interesting and worth disecting. I wanted to construct something of my own, but this is a wonderful start... well, new start. If anyone has any more information... I'd be willing to look into it. And I am going to college shortly to study Electrical and Computer Engineering. I am working toward that 100$/hr job, hopefully my own business. I got accepted into MIT this year, but unfortunately the Financial Aid did not fall through and I did not want them to make another 21 Movie based off me. i'm 80u7 2 m4k3 1ik3 IE & cr45h. /m3h y4wn5
  2. Bunch of people get together and try to disable eachother's computers using protection and hacks they made. Just something a bunch of people around the state made and some people get carried away and it turns bad -.- Not too into that anymore after that. Don't feel like going into much more detail. Was an old videogame, I guess... along with who can mod different RTS games better. Had 'everything' important backed up on my Portable HD and I guess I forgot all that work I did along with much other. Just getting ready to go to college and stuff, and don't have much time to build again.
  3. Sup. I got a $400 8.9'' Laptop and put all the 1337 goodies well over doubling the price. I have a GPS for it, it runs Linux, I have Aircrack. I used to obsess over these forums, and I remember working on a program that hooked Google Earth, a GPS, Air Crack and such together. It cracked the networks in range of the card onboard the Laptop, and put a point on the Google Earth stating the password of the network, router type, and range. I finally have my equipment, and was wondering if anyone remembers where that was. I sadly lost my desktop in a hack battle between a bunch of people and that had all the work on it... I did plenty of searches on the forum... Just wondering if anyone had it bookmarked or knew a project outside of the forums that has been developed. That's all. Thanx
  4. Hello everyone, I have a few questions. Here's my situation: Recently I bought a laptop and it came with Vista and other great hardware. I've been writing music for quite some time now, but I want to hook my guitars, basses, keyboards, etc. to my laptop and record them. I got a very expensive MIDI controller for... let's just say free. I went to install the drivers and it says the company isn't going to make drivers for Vista... Disappointing. So, I have a corporate edition copy of Windows XP Professional Edition and I would like to dual boot my computer, but I have no knowledge of this. I do a crap load of computer work and hacking, I've just never dealt with two OS's on a computer at a time before. Questions: To dual boot do I just install the software off the disc? If I dual boot, do I have access to all of the directories on the C: hard drive. If no I need to transfer my software onto XP? How much space am I looking at using on my hard drive? If there are any creative solutions to my problem other than dual booting, I'm willing to try. That's all... Thanks!
  5. That's sweet. The Doom95 music is pretty cool 8)
  6. Lmao, that's wonderful. Now USB drives are becoming a threat to people. I can't wait until hackers get their hands on those. I'd like to see one of those 'selfdestruct'. Also a completely redundant idea considering if some idiot just wants to make your life hell and decide to make it selfdestruct. At that rate, those things should be $2
  7. LMAO, that's funny. I had a similar situation. This was long ago though. I plugged in my mic and nothing was recieving. After ~ 30 minutes, I got mad and called Dell support. I got put on hold for 15 minutes, gave information for 15 minutes, then the lady said, "Do you see your task bar? Click on the little speaker and bring that window up. Is the little box marked 'Mute' under the Microphone section checked?" Then I almost bashed my head on my desk for being such a fool.
  8. I got this working on my friends computer a short while ago. I ran into a few similar problems also. I'll elaborate. First thing I hit was getting the computers named. Make sure the names match the actual computer user names. If you do not know how to do this, type ipconfig /all into command prompt and look at host name. These names seem to work. You seem to have the server set up. This was probably my most stupid mistake. I only defined one screen, so when I got it to work, I could successfully play with the other computer, but couldn't get back to mine. Try the naming, I think that's the biggest problem the program didn't do a good job defining.
  9. Get IrfanView. It's a cheap, small photo modding utility. It has a resizing option on it and a set as wallpaper option. You can stretch it across your screen with one of the functions. I use the same resolution, and this is what I did and it came out pretty well.
  10. Yes, it's true. Tesla coils work on extreme amounts of voltage. But, if you up the watts by adding some amps to those extreme amounts of voltage it would be more.... Well.... shocking
  11. Make sure to have the folders set to share on your computer connected through the router. I had problems pulling off images from my parent's computer, and the only issue was marking that your computer is okay allowing its files to be pulled off of the machine. (Windows) If you aren't... Try to access the files through explorer. It should have My Network Places. Inside that folder should be all of the shared folders in the network. If that doesn't work, make sure the firewalls are set correctly. There's a chance that something like that is just blocking it. I hope this helped.
  12. I don't understand the question. If you mean where, refer to the colleges above. As of now, I'm looking to take the ACT. Without anything I think I average 28-30. I'm taking all the money I saved up in the bank towards classes for the ACT, so I can do well. A few thousand is easily spent if I don't have to pay for college :) That's my sole goal. Um, I think you mean what do I want to do in the future. I'm going to try to get a degree in electrical engineering, with maybe side work in mechanical and computer. I am looking towards doing robotics in the future, but having little money is hard. Well, having little money is hard to build computers too. Hacking is always fairly cheap, which is how I got involved. You learn lots too. If I misinterpreted that question, please elaborate. One question: What kind of things do you have to do to apply? Is it just, essay writing, grades, ACT/SAT, merit, and submission of application? I hope I'm not missing anything
  13. Yeah, I think I have the merit thing down pretty well. I hope building a robot for Batelle, getting 2nd on a NASA competitions out of 2860 people, and winning the National Robotics Competition in a college level class. Well that's all I did in robots and theory, beyond constructing my own. I'm also an eagle scout (looks good :) ) I think I got into the National Honors Society. Dunno. I don't know what kind of people they take in. I hope I can make it.
