  1. Im using an Anker 13,000 mAh. It has a 1amp and a 2amp output (2 usb ports) I run the 1amp for the pineapple and the 2amp to power the usb hub, usb stick, alfa card and what ever else i need (like an android phone) Although i need another battery, my phone has an extended battery (8000mAh) and requires 2amps to charge so with the usb drive plugged into the hub it sometimes doesnt recognize im connected and android tethering fails. A standard galaxy s3 would work perfect though
  2. I never bought a Sandisk from the hakshop so i went out and got my own usb stick from the local shop. 20 Euro in Tesco Ireland got me a 16gb Sandisk Blade. I followed the instructions and partitioned it accordingly to work with the pineapple. As for the remaining 12GB's on the drive i made a FAT partition out of it and im currently using Sandisk's Encryption Software on it. So all is working great. The USB stick works nice with the mkIV and lets me install what ever add ons i want and i still have 12gb's of an encrypted drive which is more then enough for storing sensitive material.
  3. Im using my pineapple with an Anker 13000mah battery. It has two usb outputs (1A and 2A) i run the 1A directly into the pineapples power port, the 2A is hooked up to a USB hub bought from the hakshop which has a 16gb Sandisk Blade plugged into it. The hub still has enough power to run the Alfa Card. Where im getting stuck is on my Samsung Galaxy S3 i have a large extended battery (zero lemon) that requires a 2A charge so after delivering power to my pineapple through usb and powering the Sandisk blade there is not enough power left for my phone to recognize that im plugged into the hub to allow tethering to happen... i think im going to have to buy a second battery pack. I must say though the 13000mah gets great hours with the pineapple!
  4. I have a galaxy s3 running cyan 10.1 Data is turned on. When I plug it into my pineapple and try to turn on tether its blanked out Setup is mkiv S3 hak shop usb hub Anker 13000 mah battery Red usb plugged into the anker, black male usb going into pineapple. Female usb port on hub has a usb plugged into it going to my s3. S3 is charging and pineapple is powered up fine. S3 is rooted running jb4.2.2 My phone has a 15gb data plan and contract allows tethering . Any ideas? Pics available if required EDIT: after going to an area with decent wifi coverage i managed to get tether to connect. i ssh'd into my pineapple however after multiple tries over the space of 30 minutes it couldn't ping google.com or yahoo.com yet over the 3g connection i was able to download two ssh apps onto my android. :-/
  5. Ok new plan. Find area with 3G and test to see that it works well on my droid. Tether droid to pineapple and connect to pineapples wifi with the same droid. SSH into pineapple and ping for google That should confirm right?
  6. Yea thats what i was doing, connecting to the pineapple over wifi but i dont know is my phone loading webpages through its 3g Connection and bypassing the pineapple or was it the pineapple serving web pages via my 3G connection? In other words will there be an active internet connection for other users connected to the pineapple? Im not sure because i dont have another device to test it with and i think my phone is serving me 3G, not sending 3G to the pineapple and from there serving me internet over wifi. Get it?
  7. Hi guys and gals. I got my first pineapple there two days ago. Its a Mk IV running 3.0.0 firmware. I've found a few posts already through the search function of the forums where people have posted about tethering over usb with their droid but they have to play around with IP tables to get it working. I heard somewhere that 3.0.0 supports android tethering over USB out of the box (im guessing not requiring configuration?) So my first question. Does my MK4 support tethering over usb to my android automatically or do i need to play around with IP tables to get it running? i hope i make sense in what i wrote below.. The reason im asking is because im connecting via usb to my pineapple and the usb light comes on the mk4, i select tethering in my os and activate it however i live in a crappy part of ireland so i get little to no 3G coverage anyway. When i went to an area with decent coverage i used my phones wifi to connect to my mk4. So when i then load up a page on my android (which is connected to the mk4 over wifi) the browser works searching google, yahoo etc but is that my mobile's 3G connection that is displaying google (and bypassing the mk4) or is it my 3G connection going into my pineapple and then my pineapple is serving me internet over wifi to my phone? Its like an endless loop. The reason im asking the above is that i dont have another device to test on the mk4 while tethered so i dont know am i serving internet to other connected devices? UPDATE: Im running a GT-I9300 rooted running Cyan 10.1 JB 4.2.2
