  1. When i tried those two lines of code on www.room362.com, first of all, my cmd window opens, its not invisible like it is showed on the show, and second, it doesnt close. And to me this is good enough because i had to experiment a lot to get to this situation. Now I want to know how to run that batch file invisibly, which if it does, i wouldnt mind having the cmd window hanging open all the time.
  2. Is genpmk on the backtrack 2 final cd? If it is then I may just benchmark my own machine, see what its capable of. there's definately something wrong with your setup though.
  3. Being very impressed by the usb drive segment, i now want the setup myself. I was able to setup TrueCrypt to work on a Traveler Disk, but when i make pstart autorun as well, it overwrites the autorun with it's own parameters deleting truecrypt's. So my question is how did Rob successfully merge the two autoruns so that they both worked mutually?
  4. Im just curious of the outcome if you booted backtrack. It already has cowpatty installed. If that would work, i think it would be perfect.
  5. Yea it sucks that you need to create a separate table for every essid. But about your problem, am I a n00b or can you not just boot backtrack on that dell server to use its power?
  6. I've never actually heard of the possibility of creating hashed for cracking wpa, i've only dreamt about it. So now that I know, I will research more and start generating. Post what you already have, maybe we can share tables. I have a friend who will definately help out with his old computer and new core 2 duo
  7. i like how you guys are participating in the competition equally. Famicoman posted 2 times, one post of which was empty. This is what I call equality!
  8. knock on his door standing with a table with pictures of rainbows

    Steam

For those of you that feel this can't be good, and think that he is upto mischief trying to get someone's steam account, then I have this to say. For what reasons then, were the email account and aim account stealers included in the switchblade packages? Having someone's email username and password can prove to be much more useful than having a steam password. So it should either be all legal and moral in here, or let everything go. Since hak5 went the mischievous way, ie in supplieing and promoting the switchblade packages that steal aim and mail accounts, then why not go all the way and steal Steam accounts as well? So Vako why don't you frown upon the nefariousness of the switchblade and the hacksaw?
  10. neochivers, didnt he just say www.time.gov?
  11. though it might seem that Im saying this only to make you seed the tables longer, which I am, I think that you really should try your best to, at least the people who have it on a n external hdd or something, because if you leave me unseeded at my 95 percent, with 0 of the files totally complete, it would just plain be aggrevating. Imagine yourselves in my situation, downloading the 120 gig tables for over a month, when suddenly it all goes to waste, the time, the power wasted leaving the comp overnight, and so forth... please I beg you, share it. Otherwise, this community project wouldn't be so community anymore, being that only the people who got to it first, get to have it. These tables are the greatest that had ever existed for lm, and were created by the hak5 community, they should live on... I might sound corny, but im just trying to inspire you to SEEEEED. Thanks if you will.
  12. everything's fixed now. I just turned off my power supply for a few minutes and all usb ports restarded. Delete this post, unneeded anymore. Thanks.
  13. interesting... but how could inserting a possibly shorted out usb wifi adapter cause the power supply not to provie enough power to the motherboard, or only the usb ports?
  14. posting not editing to keep this topic fresh, I have to add something as well, that I had noticed just now. I have a usb printer, and it doesnt work now as well. The trend I see here is that power hungry devices (printer and wifi adapter) dont work on my computer's usb ports. Hope this helps.
  15. Well the story is long, and I will try to make it short. As some might have noticed, I was trying to mod my usb wifi adapter. When I finally soldered an sma connector onto it, and plugged it into the usb port, I got a usb icon in the tray, and "Error Code 10, the device cannot start" <- or something like that. Anyway, I thought I might have shorted out the connections, so I went back and unsoldered/removed the connector off my adapter. The adapter was back to its previous state. I plugged it in and got the same error. I decided to try plugging 2 of my other usb wifi adapters in, the ones I never modded or opened. I received the same error message. I thought that I killed my usb port. So I tried every other usb port I have and still I got the error messages. Basically, every other usb device works in any port. My keyboard, mouse, flash drive, they all work everywhere, in my native windows, or backtrack booted from a livecd. I tried inserting the adapters through a booted backtrack, and got the following dmesg error messages: usb 1-6: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 7 usb 1-6: device descriptor read/64, error -32 usb 1-6: device descriptor read/64, error -32 usb 1-6: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 8 usb 1-6: device descriptor read/64, error -32 usb 1-6: device descriptor read/64, error -32 usb 1-6: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 9 usb 1-6: device not accepting address 9, error -32 usb 1-6: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 10 usb 1-6: device not accepting address 10, error -32 So to sum up, after apparently improperly modding my usb adapter, I inserted it, and it has done something to all of my usb ports, that now disallows them to detect any of my usb wifi adapters properly, no matter what OS my machine is running. I went to my friend's house and tried the adapters there, they all worked. I have been suggested to purchase a pci usb hub. I am about to try doing that, though I am not sure if that will solve the problem. I dont even know if pci usb hubs are detected in linux, because though I have windows installed mainly, I use linux from live cds a lot and will not do without usb wifi support through the pci usb hub. Someone please help and suggest things I could try. Thank you.
  16. Yeah avg as well. Im surprised that avast has so a pick. Last time I tried it, I was really aggrevated by it. When I did a full system scan, when it found a virus, it stopped the scanning progress and showed a window. So if I left the scan overnight, I would have woken up to a window showing a virus, and the scan done only about 15%.
  17. what happened to the seeds? Im stuck with about 12 gigs left.
  18. I used some tool they mention on their site to decompress the tables, I didnt just rename it from x.rt.lzma to x.rt...lol. But I still dont get how to use rainbow crack, and why I should at all, if I got the .rt files ready, then why are they not recognized by any other crackers?
  19. yea i downloaded shmoo's 1.2 tables and am very confused now. I read from their small documentation that i need to decompress it from lzma or something, which i did and am now left with 5 .rt files. I have no clue what to do with them now. I used Ophcrack, and cain and saminside to try to load those rts as rainbowtable files but they arent recognized. Someone should now write a tutorial on how to actually Use the tables once downloaded. BTW, my friend is downloading the 120 gig ones and he is now stuck at 1 kb per second and has 15 more gigs to download. What is the reason for that? Anyway, i presume he would like to know how to decompile the tables into a usable form once downloaded as well, so a tutorial is much needed. Thanks.
  20. exact same story with me; thats a very good question.
  21. Has anyone had any luck with the Atheros AR5523A chipset? I have an old usb wifi adapter which i popped open the other day and found out the chipset. While googling the chipset, all I could find was hints that it might be supported in FreeBSD but i downloaded a livecd and it wasnt detected. The commands seem to differ a bit in FreeBSD and so I come to ask for help. Thanks.
  22. well, i have an mp3/usb flash drive, and I can tell you its very comfortable to have. Its just a little larger than a plain flash drive but eliminates the need for separate devices
  23. I was thinking lately. If anyone noticed, I encounter a lot of questions with usb devices. Always troubleshooting, mostly because I use the devices for purposes that they were not made for. Anyway to the point. I think, if there already isn't, there should be a business that makes computer devices for geeks, hackers, and modders. It took me months to figure out what usb wifi adapter is best for me to buy, and another month to figure out how to mod an antenna on to it. Like some small businesses that already exist, this new business would buy for example: ralink chipsets from ralink and put its own cover onto the adapters, preferrably modding an external antenna onto them. I think a business like that would solve many of our problems and save us many hours of googling. A particular product, that I would like to see being developed in the near future is the following usb device: It will be an mp3 player, a bluetooth adapter, a wifi adapter, a memory flash drive, and preferrably any other usb-used featured device. All of this will be combined. The adapter will have an external antenna connector, will be waterproof (there will be a plastic cover for the antenna connector so water won't go in), and basically if you drop it, it will stay put. I think if people will be willing to pay a few hundred dollars for such a device, they will want to pay 20 more bucks to make sure it is water proof and drop-on-the-floor safe. When do you think technology will permit us to combine all these sweet features in one compact usb drive?
  24. hope this helps in case its a little unclear, the second smallest chip says 1207 4099 0628 and the smallest says S79. Thanks again.
