  2. ok so this is whats going on in my head right now. is this correct? can i hook up the old router in conjunction with the new one so im still able to connect? an being that the pen test network is on a seperate router then the regular computers theres no way they can interact with home network right? i dont want them to. i want them to be totally separate but ofcourse i still need to connect to them.

why dont you just convert it.
  4. thanks for the info. i have two old computer that dont get used maybe ill use them in a little network for some pen testing. this is gonna be fun. i almost picked up a similar router today, a linksys WRT120n but i checked the reviews from my phone an they were horrible. this one you got looks better but im looking for something a little cheaper. around the $40-$50 range.
  5. well my old router isnt wireless. what kind of pen testing scenarios can i set up with that?
  6. iv had the same linksys for YEARS!!! and its been acting pretty slow lately. so im in the market for a new one. im going to go wifi but id like one that has ethernet ports too. never had a wifi router yet. so whats a good one with some good range/security/long life. well the range isnt too important. its not like i have a big house. i kinda want one with WEP so i can practice some pen testing but would that also make me insecure to others? or would a strong enough password be near impossible to crack? like Jdhi&%764GHF6r7. what are your suggestions? also im lookin for something popular cause im just gonna go to best buy an get it. so dont recommend something that i can only get online.

    Blue Hat

lol. i can picture the whole audience gasping. like "oohh nooo good thing we upgraded to SP3!"
  9. Microsoft to Host Hacker Meetings Company plans to make its Blue Hat security event a twice-yearly confab. Microsoft is working on plans to make a recent hacker meeting held on its Redmond, Washington, campus a twice-yearly event, according to a spokesperson for the vendor's security group. The company plans to host another Blue Hat security event in the fall, though no specific date for it has been set, Stephen Toulouse, a program manager in Microsoft's security unit, said on Monday. "We're looking at doing this again in the future," he said of the two-day event, which was held in March. "As we continue to engage with security researchers, we've become more comfortable getting into these face-to-face interactions with them." The Blue Hat event's name is a reference to the annual Black Hat security conference, with the color in the title changed to blue because that's the color of the badges Microsoft employees wear on campus. This year's U.S. Black Hat meeting was held last week in Las Vegas. Eye-Opening Demonstrations In sessions at the initial Microsoft Blue Hat event, security researchers demonstrated to Microsoft executives and developers how flaws in the software giant's products could be exploited. In one presentation, hackers set up a wireless network and showed how a laptop running Windows XP Service Pack 2 could be lured into joining a potentially malicious network, Toulouse said. Demonstrating these kinds of possible security holes hit home with product developers, which is why Microsoft wants to host the event regularly, Toulouse said. "There was a moment where everything just stopped," Toulouse said of the wireless network presentation. "You've got guys in the audience who wrote that code . . . Some of the things developers coming out of the talks were expressing [were] great ideas to go off and change the way products are [developed] to make sure this won't happen again." This kind of reaction from developers is in line with Microsoft's goal for the Blue Hat events, which is to help make Microsoft's product line as a whole more secure, he added.

lmao. well in that case i dont have a pwdump file. i only got ie_history im_password sysinfo and wifikeys. im_passwords i guess was instant messenger? so thats blank cause there is no IM. an wifi was blank cause its not a wifi network. so why didnt i get a pwdump.log?
  16. i wasnt asking any one to pirate any thing for me. i was more or less wondering if there are pirated copies of the linux version out there. an where i might find it. cause i see windows copies all over the net. sorry if i came off that way, but trust me finding software/movies etc is kinda my specialty. but this particular one seems to be a little elusive.
  17. well i havnt tried a torrent in a long time. im not on windows any more. maybe ill give it a shot. on a side note: i dont consider piracy stealing. its making a copy. ;) also im poor. anything i dont have to pay for i wont.

this is whats in my pwdump log file. is there something wrong here? cause the machine does have a login password. i know the password but why wont it dump it? or is this what its supposed to look like and i have to crack it with that program? Administrator:500:NO PASSWORD*********************:NO PASSWORD*********************::: Guest:501:NO PASSWORD*********************:NO PASSWORD*********************::: VM:1000:NO PASSWORD*********************:NO PASSWORD*********************:::
  19. it very well could be the sdcard your useing. cause when i was rooting my droid it wasnt working for the life of me and i couldnt figure out why. turns out the sdcard i had was no good. popped in a different one and it worked perfect.
  20. http://www.exosyphen.com/page_hacker-evolution.html its a game. i dont care about the legality of using torrents i just dont like how slow they can be sometimes. with direct links i download a full movie in about 10min. torrents will say crap like 4 days 17 hours remaining.
  21. any one know where to find a full copy of the linux version? preferably a direct link like megaupload. im not down with the whole torrent thing. iv ran the windows demo in wine an it seems to work. if i tried to run the full version in wine would it save my progress?
  22. neat, but thing is you would need physical access to the machine. i dont think iv ever seen a linux box in person besides the ones i run. maybe people in the industry would be more likely to run into them.
