If its true it has been compromised. what are some trusted alternatives?

My account on the domain will be a network admin account for 10 minutes, after which it will set be back to a regular user. what can be done/installed to retain as much freedom on the machine as possible. note: any newly created accounts will be noticed, and local admin passwords changed.

I already have an HTPC and it records all my shows and works great. all im looking for is a 299 solution for internet tv and the ability to access the recorded shows...

Of the relatively cheap set top boxes (not HTPCs) one could buy, which is more hack friendly? which can do the most? Which will be the one that all us nerds and geeks favor?

Darren's be talking a lot about how he loves his new android phone. Im nearly convinced to ditch my iphone 3G for a droid of some kind. So to Darren and anyone else who wants to chime in... What model phone do you have? If you were to buy a new droid phone today which would it be? and why? Would you avid certain models? and why? I currently have a droid 1 in my hands in order to take a good look around the OS and get familiar with how things are laid out and run. It has froyo (2.2) on it and seems pretty smooth. My current leanings are to the Droid X due to its larger screen, better camera etc... Thanks for any input.

yeah i can choose the SD card but it always fails. I wonder... Could not having a fast enough SD card make a difference here?

yeah i stripped an xp down so that the install would fit. but it was tight no room for any programs. THanks for that link BTW

A friend of mine gave me a Asus EEE 2gb surf. with 2 gigs of internal storage there doesn't seem to be many non stripped out OS options. It does have the SD card reader but I cant get it to boot from it. I'm just curious what you guys/gals would do with this device if it came your way. Note: "its some kind of hello kitty edition"

boxee is cool but doesnt have dvr features. which i think is a huge mistake on their part. I realise that puting all that extra stuff in their set top box would put the cost up a lot. but for a pc install with the right hardware that dvr option would make boxee king of the theater pcs. on my apple tv boxee crashes to much so i use xbmc.

Id like to see a rundown of the most versatile and hack friendly DVRs. I know that building your own using mythtv or windows media center is very versatile. But i want to know about those all in one boxes you can buy like moxi, tivo etc.
