  1. I have a ibook g3 128mb ram 600mhz lap-top and was wondering if anyone knew of any type of emulator I could use to run windows or one that I could use to install windows? Reason why I'm tired of taking my HP to work (I use it for my GPS system) and drivin over all the rough roads, etc. I can't seem to find any GPS Receiver to work with Mac, i've googled religously various mac forums with no luck. I have the microsoft Pharos GPS unit. I think I did post another thread similiar to this issue and someone pointed out a GPS receiver that should work or at least work with *nix, but I haven't had the spare money to purchase one. Just really curious if anyone has a remedy to run windows on this ibook I have, even better. If I accomplish this task: http://www.hak5.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6058 and thank you nixgeek I shall give that a shot tonight, but... well nevermind I don't think it would be possible to use a bootable Windows disc on this ibook. Sucks cause I could just have the unit installed with Streets and Trips 2007 and run it off boot:(
  2. Hey guys, I'm wondering... I want to make a bootable CD/DVD image of pretty much my own custom XP install. Scenario Install XP/Vista then install all the programs I want to use and possibly 1 specific directory I want to add and burn it as a bootable operating system. Wondering how I could accomplish this, I know Norton Ghost images the hdd but it seems as if it will only image it to restore a current installation, I would like to have this disc handy for say troubleshooting purposes, etc. I've heard of N-Lite or something like that, and bart's PE builder. I've actually tried bart's p.e. builder and wasn't too impressed it didn't seem to fit my needs and most of my programs it had wouldn't run properly. Appreciate any advice:)
  3. Excellent Oberon. I'll give that a try. I like how I can just mix up a little bit of everything in the coding :D
  4. YES! I finally figured it out guys :D I was having problems with CSS it was my first time messing with that, but what I had to do was <body background="http://localhost/images/image.jpg">'>http://localhost/images/image.jpg"> I first tried a bgcolor and it worked so I was like what the hell... I tried the image and bam. Something I don't think was explained in the html virtual tutorial I have is in the background code the ending ">" there is a space before it like if I used it in the code above it would be: <body background="http://localhost/images/image.jpg" > Why is the space necessary, that's the first html code I've noticed like that? Thanks alot guys for all the help.
  5. That didn't work. I tried that already. Man it just doesn't make sense. In the apache documentation, well in the httpd.conf file it doesn't give me any special configuration for images. I'm having a bit of a problem using CSS I think it's just something missing from the code, I've done a partial virtual html training tutorial and they covered a bit about CSS I'm just tryin to find my notes now and hopefully i'll get this figured out tonight. Thanks guys.
  6. Oh dude, sorry my fault man. I completely forgot you mentioned CSS earlier in this thread. I just keep thinking html because I'm trying to become proficient in html and further web developing. I definitely will give that a try tomorrow and I'm sure it'll work, however I did try IE and FF, with all the code that I tried, I don't use netscape. Thanks again buddy:)
  7. hmmm... man still not working. My document root is set to C:httpserver I also tried "http://localhost/images/image.jpg" in the code and still nothing. What's weird is if I type http://localhost/images/image.jpg in the address bar it'll take me straight there to the image. I shouldn't have to restart the apache service should I? It would suck if so cause what I do is edit a copy of my index.html file and when I get it where I like i overwrite the existing index.html file. I tried so far http://localhost/images/image.jpg /images/image.jpg http://dnsname.dyndns.org/images/image.jpg I think eventually I might figure it out since I know what the problem is, just not exactly sure how to code it. Thanks alot though for the advice and quick responses Oberon :D
  8. Umm... I am hosting my server via a dyndns name and when trying that code <table background="http://dnsname.dyndns.org/images/imagename.jpg"> That didn't work, but if I were to use that I'm not sure how it would know that I also tried <table background="/images/imagename.jpg"> and still no luck. Is there a certain configuration in the apache httpd.conf file? I looked through it and searched for "image" and only like 3 words of image came up and it was talking about imagemap_module and then under DefaultType: :? What' I'm doing is just trying to get a background working coding in notepage with the test.html file and opening it in FireFox and refreshing it to see if I have a background yet, but I don't yet:(
  9. Ahh, I see. This is the first time I'm completely hard-coding everything so I'll get real familiar real quick. Thanks Oberon I'm gonna give that a try in a few min. I knew it had that something with the location of the image relating to the code had to be the problem, just didn't know how to do it when hosting my own server  Thanks again.
  10. Guys i'm having a problem simple problem with html I know. For some reason I cannot set any image as a background. Everything else html-wise works fine, but for some reason not any background code. <table height="100" width="150" background="http://www.tizag.com/pics/htmlT/pattern.jpg" > that's an example found at www.tizag.com I've also tried all examples found there, but here's the problem I think I've having. I'm using Apache as my web server hosting this all from my machine running server 2003 enterprise. I'm not sure where to put the images and how to code it for background and actually I haven't tried posting images yet but i'm sure I'd have the same problem as now. I tried the images folder with the code <table background="C:httpserverimagesbackground.jpg"> C:httpserver just being the location I have the images folder and index.html folder in. I know this has to be so simple, oh forgot I'm using just standard notepad to code the site saving as .html files It's been since '02 since i've done any real html
  11. Actually no your probably right. It's one of them wifi networks where you connect to the network and then you gotta signup for an account with that wifi service provider and you pay per use. Like 6 bucks an hour or something like that. What's weird is I was able to access the gateway's gui @ 10.59.1.1 but of course needed a username and pass to access it. Also with an nmap scan the gateway shows ports 80 and 443 open. I use http://10.59.1.1 and something different came up then when using https:// I forget now though I believe it was the gateway gui when using http and https I think was the authentication page to access the internet I meant to take notes for when I posted this but forgot that part :D
  12. hmmm... yea I guess I can see that, because when using Cain and scanning for hosts, usually the IP of the adapter configured to use with cain is not displayed. So when scanning for hosts it did not show my machine and I didn't look to hard but it looked like the rest of the 253 hosts were the same mac and vendor.
  13. Hey guys, I'm a little confused here... I just got back from this chocolate shop which provided wifi access @ a cost per usage rate. I decide to fire up Cain just to see what I could find on the network. One thing weird is when I scan for hosts it gave me about 254 hosts, but they all had the same exact MAC Address and the same exact vendor :? their network was setup as a class A 10.59.1.1/254 giving me the ip 10.59.1.4 and apparently I was the only real user connected, because using cain I saw no traffic on the network and the rest of the hosts had the same mac and vendor. I was just curious what could have possibly been going on with that setup? I can only think that it was a roaming AP, with cloned mac possibly, but all the vendor names comming up the same confused me. Unless Cain still reads the vendor on a spoofed or cloned mac.
  14. @ metatron Excellent :D I shall order one for my ibook then. Is there any software you would recommend for Mac that will work with this receiver to guide you to specific addresses? For windows I have the Microsoft Pharo's 2 I believe GPS unit and i used Streets n Trips 2007.
  15. @ digip No I do have WPA2 TKIP encryption setup wirelessly I don't have any issues I've already had plenty of fun with Back|Track via wirelessly :D My neighbor is using my router with my permission, it's just she pissed me off so I just want to block her from accessing certain websites I know she likes to access. I'm sure she doesn't know how to change her mac addy or pc name, but good thinking. I didn't think about restricting pc by netbios name. Not sure if my router will support that, but i'll look into it. @ metatron That does look like a pretty nice receiver, but yea the size might be a problem. I'm trying remember this one movie where an agent forget who the actor was, but they put some type of receiver/tracking device that was I believe smaller than a dime on someone's shoulder or in their hair and was able to track them via GPS I believe. It'd be nice if I could find something that small :) I just might check out that receiver also, you said it works with *nix, I have Back|Track installed so I should be able to use it with that version? Also are you aware of any unit that works with the MAC OS Panther? I got an ibook powerpc g3 600 mhz 128 mb of ram I would like to find a unit that works with that just for work so I don't have to take my HP :D
  16. @ unasoto Thanks alot man, that pretty much clears it up. I don't know why I didn't think of that. Currently my router (wrt54gs) doesn't support it, unless I just overlooked it, but I will be sure to make that change on my server machine. With this setup I should be able to reserver 1 IP for 1 specific MAC and it should always get that ip correct? Why I ask is because one machine on my lan I do not want accessing certain websites, like myspace and all that and I have made the necessary change in the access restrictions in the router filtering by mac, but for some reason occasionally that machine is still able to access those sites. However if I restrict a certain IP range the security works fine, but this machine is my neighbor's so I cannot just go over there and set that machine staticly. Which is why I would like no matter what IP that machine gets those sites are still blocked. Thanks again guys.
  17. @ digip Thanks alot man. To ? 1 are you referring to the wr-ddt or hyper wrt something like that? If so yea my router is capable of that and I plan on doing that upgrade soon as I get another router. To ? 2, yea I haven't googled yet it was just something on my mind last night and I was tired I will google that this weekend. To ? 3 man you gave me plenty of useful information more then I thought about. I figured there would be a device kinda like a bug (something you might see in a movie) that would be about the size of a dime or smaller and I could somehow tracking via gps. I'm definitely gonna talk to the guys at hackaday and possibly try out your method it sounds interesting :D Oh and yea I meant like placing a bug inside the actual system itself like under the keyboard or something.
  18. Hey guys had a couple ?'s on my mind. Figured I'd ask now before I forget and in one thread didn't know if it was a good idea to ask them all in the same thread but i'll give it a shot. 1. I have a Linksys wrt54gs was messing around with the access restrictions in the configuration. It will allow me to restrict a certain IP range, but my ? is, is it possible (it doesn't appear possible in this router) to in any router or with any 3rd. party app to restrict a 1 specific mac address on the network to only allow a certain ip range to it? For example I got one machine on my network and I only want it to get an ip between 192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.20 and then the rest of my lan to get and IP 192.168.1.21/254? 2. If I have to machines on the lan I got 1 already setup for FTP and all that using IIS. If I setup a second machine... hmm I guess im just curious as to how to run it on a different port as far as IIS goes. I assume I would access it ftp://192.168.1.x:24 or whatever port number I decided to use? Just not sure how to tell IIS to use that port. 3. Last but not least GPS. Something i been thinking about for awhile. I'm looking for like a GPS bug something very very small I can insert inside my lap-top somewhere in the case where if it were ever stolen I could track it. I'm sure I can find something like that was curious if anyone else has given that any thought? Thanks guys for any help/advice.
  19. Yea that didn't work "depmod -a" It just don't make no sense to me. Back|Track is seeing the device via lspci, ndiswrapper reports the device as driver present, hardware installed, but as far as a network device it doesn't know that I have any wireless devices. I really think it is a broadcom issue has anyone successfully used ndiswrapper in linux with an integrated broadcom working?
  20. hey thanks man I did everything but "depmod -a" I did see that on another forum along time ago just forgot about it I will give that a try tonight :D
  21. Hey guys. I'm having a problem with linux seeing my internal broadcom card. It installed fine via ndiswrapper and displays driver installed hardware present. I even ndiswrapper -m I believe to write the configuration and them modprobe ndiswrapper. The problem is it just doesn't show the device via iwconfig. wlassistant error's no wireless devices found. I'm aware of and do not plan to do any wireless sniffing/auditing with this crappy broadcom. I would however if possible like to get it working and just be able to connect to my wireless network via linux. I'm running Back|Track 2.0 Beta installed. HP dv6227cl AMD Turion 64 TL-50 x2 1 GB Ram
  22. Try airmon-ng start wlan0 not sure if "airmon-ng" is in Auditor or not I can't remember, but if you check out Back|Track live CD you should be fine. Also if your planing to do any wireless auditing I would suggest the Senao 2511 pcmcia card available at wlanparts.com
  23. Hey guys I'm kinda working on this script was wondering if someone might be able to advise me a little. What I'm wanting is something similar to the USB U3 technology. When I insert the usb I would like the script to be executed but I can figure that part out. What im wondering is... I'm trying to familiarize myself with variables and get good with batch scripting. At this link I found this interesting. The use of VNC without router modification. http://www.uvnc.com/addons/nat2nat.html I'm trying to figure out I guess how to execute nsc.exe + add a username and pass + make the icon hidden from the system tray. I assume something like cd dirnamensc.exe then that's where I'm stuck I know there are some switches required to make it quiet I think /q but not sure. This link here is very useful but doesn't say what all the switches mean I also assume it would be a registry entry to make the icon hidden then I think the hard part would be the username and pass. I'm sure some way I could code it to actually [tab]username[tab]password[tab][enter] something like that?
  24. Coo. Thanks man. I was pretty much lookin at layin it all out on a bench next. I wish there were a better method for testing motherboards and cpu's besides with known good other hardware.
  25. Hey guys just figured I would ask to make sure I didn't leave out or forget any step. 1 of my machines today I went to get on it to do whatever. Anyway it's been in a room for along time a cold room at that maybe about 20 degrees on average. It's been on and I haven't touched it for over a week until tonight I go down and reboot it and it first gives me a floppy drive error I forget the exact error and says system halted... all on a black screen. I'm like okay that's weird when I disabled the floppy in the cmos. So I reboot again and now I don't get video at all... doesn't make sense to me. I tried to other video cards with no luck. I removed/reseated the cpu, with no luck and it still looks like it's okay. It's a p4 2.4 ghz. After taking the case lid off I notice theres no jumper on the cmos pins at all, so I try to reset it with no luck. Removed the battery for awhile with no luck. Also I figured I would get the series of beeps when removing the ram and powering on, but I didn't... :? Another thing that's weird is when inside the case I touch certain areas of the motherboard with my bare hands it will power on. Or when I goto insert my flash drive in the front panel usb ports it will shut the system down as if I had unplugged it from the wall. The power supply is a 480w Demon Silver Chrome. The board I can't remember exactly I got it from a friend with no documentation. It's very small with only 2 pci buses and uses the VIA 8237 chipset I believe. Ram 256mb DDR 3200 I just wanted to make sure I didn't leave out any step in troubleshooting... it's been awhile since I've had video problems
