  1. I've ordered the Nokia cable. No doubt I'll be back asking for help regarding the wiring :) I may write a guide as I do it for super noobs like me who haven't a clue about electronics.
  2. I can confirm it does show you AP's that aren't broadcasting their SSID. Just doesn't show you what their SSID is, but at least you know they're there. The original program I use to use is the reason I just turned broadcasting back on, on my AP's because I thought it pointless turning it off. As anyone who knew what they were doing would be able to see them anyway, and with the tool I use to use it seemed pointless. I leave them broadcasting now as kit like my Nokia E71 was having problems with the non broadcasting AP. Thanks for the help people.
  3. From what I was aware they contacted Apple. Apple denied all knowledge of it (I think it's because they contacted the helpline), so the guy selling it could get away with claiming he tried to contact the owners but they weren't interested. Again, I have no sympathy for Apple. They've cocked up with this one with the bad press it will give them. And from what I was aware it was a local task force that is related to computer crime.
  4. Windows 7 64bit. Never really liked Linux. Tried again recently to get along with it but it's just so different I get lost so get annoyed :)
  5. Have to agree on the Steve Jobs front :) I liked the film "Pirates of Silicon Valley". Steve Jobs comes across as a right cunt in it, especially when he dumps his girlfriend when he knows she's having his kid (which he only, a few years back, finally took responsibility for). And Steve Wozniak said when he watched it, not everything was accurate but the personalities were. He said that's how Steve Jobs and Billy Boy Gates were. However not sure I can agree on the design side. This isn't directed at you but what annoys me with Apple lovers is they seem to follow the crowd like sheep. They'll say the iPod is great, just because the latest star says so. They all bigged up the curved back of the phone. Yet now the new version seems to be ditching it, they're saying how amazing the new design is and how crap the curved back was/is. Yet it's nothing new, I think that square design is a bit like my E71. I hate the fact with my iTouch I can't connect it up to the PC and drag and drop. It doesn't do multi-tasking and neither does the iPad. The only use for the iTouch now is bog breaks. I sit and watch the iPlayer on it. But even that's an issue. If a static image appears in the show, the Touch locks up. Then I'll sometimes listen to the radio on it and want to surf the net at the same time. Then realise I can't cause it can't do the simplest task of fucking multi-tasking. It also annoyed me when they made a big thing about it being able to copy and paste. It should of been able to do that on release. And all the fanboys/girls said it was amazing when it could. Forgetting other smart phones have been able to do it for years. Anyway. I could rant on but sure you're getting bored now :)
  6. What I mean is, as a test I connected my laptop up to the maybe broken router knowing it's not giving out IPs. I then connected the broken router to the main router that goes out to the Tinternet. I've set that to give out DHCP and sure enough, the laptop was given an IP address and was allowed access to the Tinternet. Which suggests the seemingly broken router is still acting as a switch. That make sense?
  7. Although GestApple are guilty for being arseholes anyway :) or maybe that's just cause I hate them :)
  8. Looks good but for VMs def get 8GB. I've got 8GB in my i7 system and VM's are nice and quick but now I want more RAM :)
  9. I hate GestApple so I'm biased (oddly typing this on an iTouch which was a mistake purchase. I hate it) But people seem to miss the point. If you lost your mob and knew who found it and knew they sold it to a paper. If you then went to the fuzz to ask them to raid the paper they'd laugh a you. But because GestApple put pressure on the task force they raided the journo's house. This is wrong plan and simple. If anyone did wrong we could point the finger at Gizmodo, they are the ones that wrote the cheque so surely it should be their office that is raided. No? Why not? Well because their office is in New York and GestApple and the task force are base in Califonia. So I assume the task force has no rights in New York. I hop Chen sues and wins. I hated GestApple before I hate them as a company even more now. The only reason they have a problem with this is because it will hurt 3gs sales of their over priced and over hyped phone. Steve Jobs is a cock. I wonder if he'll send his task force to come give me a kicking now :)
  10. oo thanks will have to have a look at that. Should be easy to get. Then will prob be looking for a guide on what cable goes where :)

Another one that's free is HackTheGame http://www.hackerforever.com/hackthegame/index.php?htg=main
  12. Looked at Digininja's guide what with also being from the UK but unfortunately Ebay don't seem to sell the cable he suggested anymore :( I'm no electrician so not sure what I'm looking for. I could head to Maplin for a cable but could someone say what I should be looking for or asking for when in store? Also, what high gain antenna can you stick on these things? And what sort of bits do you need to stick a battery supply onto it? Had my Fon for months just stuck in the draw as when I saw how complicated it was with the 0.0.0.0 issue I put it on hold. (mainly due to not understanding the electronics side of it)
  13. Thanks. I have inssider running but tested it for no ssid broadcasting and it doesn't pick it up. It was on a Dell x300 I believe with Intel's own drivers software, I think, that was the program I used that would detect non broadcasting AP's in the area.
  14. This doesn't affect our US cousins but I was wondering, with this stupid bill coming in next year to law. What will happen to Fon users? People who actually use the Fon for what it was made for, sharing a tiny bit of their WIFI connection. Surely someone could connect to a Fon and download crap, then the person who was sharing their Fon will be the one that gets the blame. Despite the person connecting having to enter their login details I believe. The trace would still trace back to the hosts IP I would of thought. Another reason the bill is unworkable. Unless I've misunderstood how Fon works.
  15. Thanks I think that was it. But it keeps saying Adapter not present. I'm on a HP2510p. I assume the onboard wifi isn't supported :(
  16. I use to use a tool in Windows that allowed me to see all WIFI AP's in the area, even if they weren't broadcasting their SIDD. Can't remember what it was called. Anyone got any ideas? Don't want to use anything for Linux as I don't get along with Linux. Sorry but I like Windows as it just works.
  17. Thanks. Found that a few hours ago. Shame, they aren't on there :(
  18. Thanks. Might just fork out for the ALFA AWUS036H from ebay.
  19. Just curious, does anyone know if this Edimax EW-7711UAn or this Edimax WLAN nLite High Gain Would be any good for wifi cracking. I know there is the ALFA AWUS036H But is a bit too much price wise for me. But I'm hoping the above adapters work just as well for stuff like packet injection for kicking people of their wifi so they have to reconnect. I'm new at this so 'scuse me if this has been asked before and if I don't understand some replies :) Wanna test my own wifi out.
  20. For the BB issue? Tried that, that never worked either. Both times I've had to do it, there was something in their mail box that was borked.

Remember to back up regularly. If you get caught, it's game over and it kills the save so you can't just reload the last save, from what I remember (it was to make it more of a challenge but it meant it got annoying). Never finished it as I'd get so far and end up getting caught. Even though I'd cleaned logs and traces. And because I hadn't backed up, I had to start over so ended up just shelving it.
  23. Is it possible for part of it to be broke but still route traffic via wired to the main router? Which it currently can do.
