  2. ok. so I have updated it a bit since last time. here's what I have so far.

    screenshotr.jpg

    Hopefully soon will be adding/changing:

    -taking out so much compiz..

-Putting the menu Gear in the generic title bar for all windows (anyone know how to do this right off, holla @ me!)

-finding better icons for things to match the theme.

-Possibly trying to find a better wallpaper, but with the same color scheme.

BTW @ MuNk! Those first two shots, the backgrounds are fuggin' sweet! where did you get those?

    Also BtW!

if anyone wants my conker config file, ill be more than happy to post.

  3. Really? What's the difference? I figured one was more for performance, and one was more for power conservation (hence the 'green' drive). but looking @ the specs on the newegg site, they were identical so I was'nt sure. You never know except by experience these days weather something is truth or hype ya know?

  4. Well, if your not looking for bleeding nose type of performance, you could go with a wd green 1t drive. Does great for what I do. 2 = $199 before tax, free shipping right now on newegg, and only $9 more a peice if you want the wd blacks.

  5. ok.. so since the time that I started this thread, I decided I wanted to finallly utilize at least SOME of the 1tb I have available on the drive, so I installed linux (naturally) specifically linux mint.

This time around i'm going for a kind of steampunk theme. I have got a long way to go but here is what I have so far.

btw! DROP! I know your going to post here (you always do!) having some issues with conky I need some help with. *takes away my icons each time it updates* have tried the different switches in the faq with no avail.

  6. Timmay313, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone on this forum is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

    bwwhhhlllabheadaiwsajvlea;sab00bsheosuadcvnkl

    (i am now dumb..thanks asshat) :P

  7. i love how they kept some of the old levels and all the old characters from q3 arena.

This game is awesome. The only thing that urks me is the impeding doom that is getting old... I suck ass at these games now...

  8. i am having some issues infecting my vm.... dunno if this is some smart ass thing the worm does, but i have the 'malware.exe' file... wont run. doesnt add anything to anything, no traffic over the wire. I heard it's supposed to be a dll, so i tried that.. already crashed firefox with it (my own doing, not the worm) trying to just use a firefox file deleted and renamed the malware as that dll file :P. so then i just tried the plain ole registering the dll! regsvr32 malware.dll. Wont do that! so now i'm stuck trying to initiate a virus....

    any suggestions?

btw... everytime I try to change the clock in my vm, it changes back to the origional time?! even unchecked to autoupdate over the wire (which it's sandboxed in anyway).. wtf is up with that?

  9. damn.. well that totally blows. These people thought of everything when making this damn malware....

But when you say it modifies it's behavior... does that mean it changes it's behavior to more efficiently infect virtual servers, or does it just stop what it's doing? cause if it is the latter, then that would mean most servers running multiple vm's would have little to no worry.

Also I am running in virtualbox, so I wonder if the malware can only check against a handful of popular vm's or any?

  10. ok. So I watched the ep. where matt setup a vm in a closed environment and setup a virus on it and monitored it. I want to do the same thing but with conficker c. So I have been looking everywhere but cant find it, so does anyone know where I can point this poor little unpatched XPsp2 vm to get it?

I want to examine what will happen when I do a time change on the machine (like tonight @ 11:55pm) and watch it work it's magic. I'm just curious, and find it interesting to see if it goes out to the web to find the time, or if it just uses the system time or what.

BTW! I got my windows vista and xp machines fully patched and running avast, with all updates :D

  11. this idea would be soo freaking awesome! it would be like an intranet spanned across the extranet!

I think this would raise a whole freaking mass load of possibilities, and I for one would love to contribute, and even put up a vm for a tree, but unfortuately with the weather down here, it would be down alot (specially right now, since we have all the spring storms and what not)

To me this sounds like something that would end up being epic. I mean like an internet for the cool hackers (dunno any other way of saying it). That only the people that were cool could join. And we could contribute to.

If you need any generic HTML coding, holla @ me. I dont know squat past basic css, but I could make something cool for pages if needed on my spare time.

  12. before you go checking out the routers, go check out the simulations. Search for Packet Tracer. It is by Cisco, and it wont get you really far but it will definitely help you in the beginning, and it can be useful at times when you want to see how something would react but you dont want to mess with a mess of routers and switches.

Also most of the ccna style labs can be done on Packet Tracer.

Alternatively, you may want to check out GNS3 which is not a router simulator but an Emulator. Keep in mind though you will have to obtain a version of IOS to use it and it's pretty cpu hungry to run, but it's the closest and cheapest way you are going to even be able to think about owning a decent cisco router.

Also if you want some tips on where to go for routers, I would recommend either a really good reseller on e-bay, or ciscokits.com The ciscokits site is naturally more expensive but not by all that much and you get a warranty AND tech-support.
