Hi Everyone, So my latest obsession has been with embedded device hacking/reverse engineering. I've been having tons of fun discovering UART/JTAG ports/pins, dumping firmware, and walking the file systems. As far as binary analysis goes - I am looking for something comparable to IDA Pro. I've used it and like it, and from what I have read - it's considered the best; however it is also the most expensive. Does anyone know of any good alternatives the have a comparable feature set? I've been looking into Binary Ninja which is about $150 for a Hobbyist license - I am leaning towards that one so far. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, D

I don't really understand assembly code but I'm trying to learn it. I was curious is there a way to dump any old binary into a format that I can deliver via metasploit. Is there an easy way to dump the binary into a ready to use assembly instruction set? If so what are the steps? If there's not an easy mode way to do this hypothetically what are the steps. Is it as simple as dumping the bytes into an array and outputing them that way. Can I take the output of objdump, hexdump, or xxd and create this usable byte array or string or whatever. I'm just really not sure where to start.

Hello, i have been looking into expanding my microprocessor and electronics knowledge. I dont have 100 € to drop on a arduino starter kit, so i looked around and found a resonable substitute the MSP430 launchpad it has a 16bit microprocessor and with just 5$ you have one programmable button and one programmable led its great for starters, but you can also expand i dont know what ports it has. I just posted this because i think it is really great for people who want to get into microprocessors and hardware and not pay that much. And also it didnt have any mentions on this forum yet.
