Ubertooth One to spoof a device?

anode

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Can a Ubertooth One be used to impersonate a BT device?  lock, speaker, headset, etc.?

Spoofing the MAC should be trivial, I'm just wondering about if it can present itself as the above devices/services.  It doesn't have to do the job, just claim to for the pairing.

TIA

It depends on what version Bluetooth the device is running.  Newer versions have implementations to help prevent spoofing.  Not saying it can't be done.  Haven't done a lot of reading lately on the topic but remember seeing there are leaks still in some newer versions.

Ubertooth One is a device built for 2.4 GHz Bluetooth so should work fine.

https://tools.kali.org/wireless-attacks/spooftooph is one tool for trying it.
