Reflux
I just recently set up a FTP server at home since I was fed up with the slow connections of sending files though msn and aim and the free filehosting services just wasnt cutting it. For the FTP server im using to activate PASV it said that you need ports 1024 and above is that safe or should i use PORT commands which only requires port 20 and 21? Also I do not understand the difference between port forwarding and port triggers, i know port tiggering is a form of port forwarding thats about it. level42
You'll need to forward the ports www.portforward.com

Sparda
Extreme risk if you open all of them. You only need to forward port 21, if this FTP software requires any other ports open it's a piece of shit and a wast of time.
cooper
FTP is a bit of a PITA protocol. You should set up a webserver and serve up files through that. It's typically faster too. FTP is great when you want others to upload to you aswell.
