reflex Posted May 10, 2012 Share Posted May 10, 2012 Hi there, im in need of a router and wanting to to install DD-WRT or Open-WRT on the Alfa AP51. Currently it has the Pineapple MK3 firmware installed and finding it hard to fend any decent docu on this. Anyone done this willing to write up a quick tut, would be appreciated. WatskeBart Posted May 10, 2012 Share Posted May 10, 2012 I don't own a AP51, but i think you goto: ALFA Firmware page Download the AP51 firmware. SCP the firmware to your AP51 in the /tmp directory Run sysupgrade -n -v /tmp/<firmwarefile> and you are back to stock firmware. reflex Posted May 10, 2012 Author Share Posted May 10, 2012 Solution in case anybody wants it : Download http://uploading.com/files/3be927b2/Alfa-AP51-DD-WRT.zip , connect to pineapple through LAN. Unzip Alfa-AP51-DD-WRT.zip and cd into Alfa-AP51-DD-WRT directory then run "./ap51-flash-1.0-42 eth0 root.fs vmlinux.bin.l7 nvram". If it says no packet then just unplug router then plugin again. Mr-Protocol Posted May 10, 2012 Share Posted May 10, 2012 The Alfa AP51 is the Mark III it uses a different flashing technique than the Mark IV. DO NOT try and put the Mark IV firmware on the Mark III (AP51/OM1P models). Firmware Mark III Mark III Info http://forums.hak5.org/index.php?showannouncement=6 If you are trying to turn your Mark III into it's normal router operation as it used to be, you will have to get the AP51 firmware from Alfa and flash that.
