this is what i did

my fon has to ports internet and computer so first i plugged him in to the internet port and the other and in my pc

started up freifunk easy flash made sure everything was correct then hit go and plug the power in

the screen shot from the wiki was the same as mine so :D

i waited almost an hour but nothing seem to change in the window, but he had to be done

so i closed the program and i tried to telnet but it did't work

so i checked my ipconfig and the default gateway was 0.0.0.0

what am i to do ?

I don't use windows and haven't used Freifunk so this could be wrong but have you tried setting the IP address of your machine to 192.168.1.22 before trying this, that would put it on the same subnet as the fon.

ignore the LEDs, they don't necessarily mean much any more!

Lets go back to basics. Flash the Fon and make sure that it is OK. Connect to it on 192.168.1.1 via wired and make sure that you can get at it and the Jasager interface. Now start the wifi and Karma. Get a client to connect to an ESSID you make up, depending on your client software you might need to tell it it is OK to connect even if it doesn't see beacons from the AP. Don't worry about IP addresses yet.

Work through that and see what happens.

Running short of ideas....

Fire up wireshark and watch traffic, see if you get arp responses when you try to connect to 192.168.1.1.

Is it a cable issue, straight vs cross over and a non-auto-detecting NIC on the PC.

There are two types of NICs, I'm not sure the correct technical terms but basically a client (pc, laptop etc) and a router. You use one type of cable to plug from PC to router and a different type to plug from router to router.

An auto-detecting NIC will do both depending on the cable connected and the thing on the other end.

Very vague answer as I can't think of the technical terms off the top of my head.

The fact you are ARP'ing and not getting responses means the fon isn't listening at all. The flash didn't come back with any errors did it? Can you get hold of a serial cable and pop the lid? I reckon that may be the only way to get to the bottom of this.
