doyouhas
In the episode Darren and Shannon created a bootable USB key and then took the files it creates and puts them on the multipass boot key. The problem is that I don't have more than one USB key so I need to do this process without the use of a second key. Any suggestions? Satal Keto
In the episode Darren and Shannon created a bootable USB key and then took the files it creates and puts them on the multipass boot key. The problem is that I don't have more than one USB key so I need to do this process without the use of a second key. Any suggestions? Use the one USB you have, do what you need to install Trinity on there, then when you have done that I believe you can just copy and paste the files onto your desktop or somewhere, then once those files are safely off of the USB, install the others on the USB and then you should be able to copy the Trinity files back onto the USB. Hope that helps :D
Netshroud
You could also do something like VMWare or Virtual PC to do it. You could try booting the Trinity Rescue Kit ISO directly from grub: map /trinity.iso (hd32) map --rehook chainloader (hd32) rootnoverify (hd32) boot
doyouhas
Well I don't really want to erase everything I've done so far in order to do it. I'm gonna try booting the iso file from grub and see if that doesn't work.
Netshroud
if that doesn't work, you could image your USB, wipe the USB, install TRK to it, grab the files, wipe the USB and restore the image.
SomethingToChatWith
Create a virtual disk in VMWare/Vbox. Boot with the iso and install it there. Attach your USB drive to the VM or setup a share folder so you can transfer the files from the virtual disk that you need.
doyouhas
Suggestions on tools for imaging? I think I'm gonna go that route even though it is a pain in the ass. Also, "SomethingToChatWith" can you elaborate on the process you just described? How do you install Trinity to the virtual disk and then copy off the files? That seems confusing to me, or maybe I'm just not understanding it right.
Netshroud
You would use /dev/sda or whatever the virtual drive is, then mount the virtual drive under your OS.
