Kamikaze 8.09 FON+ and Madwifi Drivers

Recommended Posts

Has anyone else managed to get this to work? It works fine for me but I'm getting worried I'm about to DOS a load of Fons.

I'll post again soon... Initially, I lost communication with the router, but like taiyed14 I noticed there was a small window of opportunity upon rebooting the router. I used Freifunk EasyFlash and pointed it to the LAN port connected to the router... I rebooted and it successfully communicated with the router and flashed it. I will try everything again and post the results soon.

That is redboot, it comes up for 2 seconds which is usually 4 pings when the device first boots.

Unless you mess with fconfig from the redboot cli then you shouldn't be able to mess this up.

i've done some digging and found when i run these commands I loose the ability to access the fon:

root@OpenWrt:~# uci set wireless.wifi0.disabled=0

root@OpenWrt:~# uci commit wireless && wifi

Any suggestions on how to get some more debugging info would be helpful.

I found those command while looking at the Fon+ jasager install guide. I will stop doing that and see how that goes.

Update:

I tried enabling Wifi through the web interface as well as though /etc/config/wireless with no luck. every time i would lose the connection the the fon.

You are connecting to the fon through the wired cable when you are doing this, not through the wifi aren't you?

I can't see why changing the wireless settings would kill the wired network, unless it is something to do with bridging.

I also have this problem when i start ath0 from the web interface the WLAN light comes up then the Fon immediately reboots it's self.

Are you using the updated mad-wifi drivers that digininja posted earlier in this thread?

Can one of you try grabbing the file again and installing it again. I've just rebuilt it again and diff says the files are different so I've put the newly built file up.

This may be what was causing the problem.

Well I tried the link you provided on page 1 of this topic but I get the same issue

try to bring interface up and router reboot.

Duplicated twice.

Do you know how to make an export of the fs so maybe I can send it to you for review? Or maybe an export of currently deployed packages.

Let me know what I can do.

I flashed with 8.09 and installed the 'new' wifi driver (http://www.digininja.org/files/kmod-madwifi_2.6.26.5+r3314-atheros-2_mips.ipk) then enabled wifi thru /etc/config/wireless, rebooted and nothing could not connect. The fon is also not broadcasting any SSIDs but the wireless light is on.

let me know if you need any other info.

Well... I did get farther with the new package. Before, the router would simply become unresponsive... now, like the others, the router simply reboots when attempting to bring up ath0.

Note: When connecting to Jasager, it now simply gives the option to create and configure ath0 (router reboots if attempted)... before this package, it would bring up ath0 automatically... though karma couldn't be brought up.
