Hello,

I'm looking for a way to make "Details" the default selected method for displaying files & folders in windows explorer?

Currently It dynamic changes it depending on the media.

Thank you.

Details is a option under the "View" drop down selection

And yes I'm aware I can manaully set this with "Customize This Folder"

But that's not system wide.

Ok ... i think i know what your after.. for xp not sure on vista

1 open explorer and set up the current folder ur in to the details and space it the way you would like it and so forth .(customize the current page.)

2. click tools>folder options>view

3 click apply to all folders.

done

should now be the default view setting for all.

(at least i think thats what your after)

Presuming you've never used Vista before then?

Windows Explorer is a lot different.

But I've managed to do it anyway (About 15 seconds after creating this topic...........)

But It's not exactly system wide but good enough.

Simple eh?

and u were messing with the registry........ :P

yeah

this way is obvious... however it doesnt stick all the time... occasionally something will make it change again... be it installing a program or who knows what else. I'd really like to see a new way of doing this that makes it permenant and can be scripted so that in can be done on multiple computers over the network.
