  1. I have an old Acer5050 laptop (3-4 years now) one day the laptop just shut off and I was never able to turn it on again, the battery is fine and I've tried two different working adapters (for the same model laptop) I've completely opened the laptop up and tor it all apart but cannot see any burn marks or anything indicating that the're is a hardware problem, so why in the world wont it turn on. When it died I was taking guitar hero 2 music and converting it with frets on fire. that was the last time it worked.... about 2 years ago..
  2. I wonder, If we can pick up these frequencies cant we use the same type of data and transmit them over the fm band and then pick them up on the computer? I mean can we use a similar setup to broadcast a camera for example to our computers with an fm transmitter/reciever.. Even if not as far
  3. I am VERY interested in doing this, I have a nice big CB radio antenna would that work well? Also is it possible to use the cb radio itself to obtain the signal? probably too much interference, I'm not sure I have anything that would pick up such a freq do you guys have any ideas?
  4. I recently was messing around with my samsung R430 (any samsung should work, but no promise) Now I setup my phone to automatically lock on start, keep out lil-sis no prob. Then I started messing around with it and set the phone to Nam 2 So your phone restarts and asks for your lock code no prob right? wrong... :/ Your phone will not accept any code you seem to give it. I spent about an hour or two searching and found a solution. Dial ##626# on your samsung phone you should get a nam menu, hit nam 2, view, then you'll be able to see the nam number 00000000000004564 something like that, Well a nam is partly your phone number, default security codes are usually the last four digits of your number so guess what the last for of that nam is? Yep! :) its your security code, enter it and enjoy... btw, I noticed once I switched my nam back to nam 1 my security code was reset to the last four of my number... I really hope this helps I hadn't found anything online saying how to do this, I just saw the code for the nam and realized that it would work :) Take that Samsung! I dont need you lol, enjoy guys
  5. Thanks! Looking into that and yeh built-in modem on the Compaq 6820s business laptop - vista homebasic
  6. vista doen't detect my modem :/ havn't tried it out on it yet so idk.. .lol gotta fix that before I can test
  7. ok thanks :), that'll keep me from wondering lol :)
  8. Thanks for the help guys :) I see what you mean by interference..... But it "could" work, only tying it out will give an answer, I'll try to get to the store today and pick up some phone equiptment to work with. btw, I've been trying to figure it out, what is the difference between phone lines that have 2 wire and those that have 4? Because it seems phones work fine on either but then why have two types? It seems I'll need the four lines to properly try this out... and if on a cell phone! Damn that would be sweet, (I have google voice and can call out for free, so just dial out to my access number to get online) I did run into a problem just thinking and think I have a solution. A computers modem wont even try to dial out if it cannot get a dial tone, I'll have to either generate, record, or download a dial tone that I could send into the modem so the computer would know it can dial out... on a cordless this would not be an issue but with a cell phone it would... (cell phone would have more interference but hey maybe find an area with good signal we'll see) I'll keep you posted on my project
  9. ah ha! http://www.i-hacked.com/content/view/205/47/ A solution?
  10. I have been interested in DTMF tones and phone hacks since watching "History of Hacking Documentary" I learned about John Draper "captin Crunch" and about red boxing, blue boxing, etc. I understand alot of this stuff nolonger works but I'm still interested in it. I have a DTMF generator and I now use it to dial out simply because I can, I like it... I was wondering and had some ideas, I've looked into it but have had problems figuring it out. What I'd like to do... Use a cordless phone to connect my laptop to a dialup connection, I see this very very possible because dtmf tones will work over land lines and these cordless phones but.... I tried to connect a headset into our phone line, it has a volume switch on it, I noticed that turning the volume all the way up would cause the phone lines to be cut off thoughout the house but I could then use the line, my guess is I was pulling too much power from the line.. I also was unable to dial out using DTMF tones, I only had a 2 wire line to connect the head set, and weather I connected my mic or speaker I could not dial out, my guess is the two sets are for mic and speakers, so I'd need a 4 line cord correct? Now on my laptop I'd like to be able to do this without modifying the cordless phone, so what would I have to hookup on my laptop in order for it to listen in on the tones and communicate? I mean I'll have to wire up something into my laptops modem and it'll have to be able to communicate both in and out. (sort of how connections were made in the movie wargames) and finally, I know that a cellphone does not allow you to play DTMF tones into the mic, it just dosn't work to dial out, but could I possible manually dial the dialup number and then once the computer has dialed the number (it wouldnt be connect yet) then I could then wire the cell phone into the computers modem and then could the computer talk to the cell phone? I'm thinking it would work if the connection was dialed manually first. and yes I do understand that I could just use bluetooth and a data plan etc.. I'm experimenting and just trying to see if its possible, I want to do it this way.. I'll take any help/suggestions you've got...... In the mean time I'll keep on researching
  11. I recorded myself playing unreal tournament using Fraps (on vista) It has great quality, I import to sony vegas 8, still great quality I export the video in 16:9 1280:720 HD, The video comes out blocky every time I've tried every format youtube will accept and I get the same results, I tried in windows movie maker, it exports at great quality but I cannot make the video 1280:720 unless the source video is at least that size, problem is the source video is 1024:768 so that leaves bars on the two sides of the video. I've tried multiple video converters and I always end up with an aurora effect on the bottom of my video.. Can you guys help me? or suggest a video capture app capable of HD video and able to record sound from the speakers and at the same time be good enough on resources that it wont lagg. Basically I need fraps with a different codec....
  12. Almost gave myself a heart attack lol. I don't normally work with high voltages like that... I got it working :) CB 'n all! Gray wire jumped to gnd - power psu Yellow wire + gnd - 12V for anyone who wants to do something similar with a dell psu
  13. Must be an AT because there is no green pin/wire on the supply EDIT From wikipedia Maybe this is why I cannot find the green wire (the dell power supply was for a dell p2 pc) EDIT Found the pc and its power supply http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/syst...hnica.htm#power Still cannot find anything to tell me what each wire is for or anything to clue which wire I need (I don't have a volt meter either) EDIT OK! So its the gray and black wire.... It's not turning on though.... do I need a load then? and I'm still unsure if its too much power for the cb radio
  14. I can't code in C++ but I do a little sdl/php. I like conTEXT as my editor but others will work just as well.
  15. I have an old [Realistic One Hander CB Radio] It runs on about 2-4 amps and 12volts I have an old power supply from a Dell Optiplex GX1, it has 12volts and 6/8 amps I'd like to power the cb radio with it but I have three problems. 1. The power supply has no switch, it was built into the case, I don't know which two wires will turn it on 2. I don't know if it needs a load 3. I am unsure if it's safe to power the cb radio (It has a cigarette lighter adapter, will that regulate the current?) I'm currently powering the cb with a 12v/1amp ac/dc pack, I get it to turn on but cannot hear anyone over the radio, so I think its the fact its underpowered is causing it to lose range. Can you guys help me out?
  16. cool :) I'm getting into vb myself
  17. Thanks for the help guys sounds good
  18. :) Nice... but I've been searching that and cannot find a free way to do it. The only free ones I found either require internet or a router that I dont have. I did search... Is there an alternative? I just need it to open the browser and/or forward their browser to my webpage.
  19. I'd like to make a hotspot... I just want it really simple, when someone connects to the access point it will forward their web browser to my web server... Thats it. I have a belkin54g F5D7230-4 6000 router
  20. What channel should I set the linksys router to? Here are the following connections channels: 11 1 6 7 maybe a few others that repeat. What is the best channel I should use? (currently on 11, The other 11 pop'd up later)
  21. ok so do this correct? Set my belkin router to accept the mac of the linksys I wish to extend then connect my laptop to my belkin via ethernet and I can get that connect? Please correct me if I'm wrong, in the mean time I'll try that thanks
  22. yeh i want to use it to extend a connection so i can connect... :) I'll try what you guys mentioned EDIT I have a belkin F5D7230-4 it supports wireless bridging and access point. there is an unsecured linksys wireless router, I want to use mine to extend it.. how can i if at all?
  23. Can u use a belkin router to pickup a wifi connection?
  24. Yeh always sounded like it'd be something I'd like
  25. Another example is my job I'm a computer tech at a restaurant and go from maitence to repair, software installation, network administration, the list goes on....
