  1. Now we are one step closer to taking over the Wild Wild West, just as long as someone stops Will Smith first.
  2. Microsoft actually has some great tutorials for teaching C# and VB, just go to help in Visual Studio and then click on learn C#. It also has awesome tutorials for learning XNA game studio if you're into that kind of stuff once you finish learning some C#
  3. Current Favorite: HL2: Episode 2 All time favorites: Starcraft and Battlefield 2 @VaKo - Awesome! another BF2 player!!! And if you have tried BF2 before and didnt like it from the public servers, then it's because you never played BF2 the way it's suppose to be played, where you are in an actual team with a true hierarchy/chain of command (ie squads can only tlka to their own squad, while the squad leaders could talk to eah other and the commands ). If you ever get interested in this, look for some online BF2 leagues, Fight For the Future is an AMAZING BF2 league to join and play with if you want to experience BF2 like it should be.
  4. Can batch scripting go in and make a drive into shared on the network? I kno this does not relate to the topic itself, but easy future access left from the switchblade is an interesting thing to have, especially if the victim is a n00b with computer stuff.
  5. Vista was the first OS i've used right when it came out (give or take a few months) because my school gives it to us for free if we want to use it. Well to sum it all up, I am never going to do that again. Driver support for Vista has sucked, which i can forgive since it is brand new, but features that should be extremely easy to use like streaming media to the 360 has worked out terrible for me. Granted i have been wanting to stream my podcasts to the 360, and i figured the new update would do that for me, but sadly no. The eye candy is just not worth the extra system resources it takes up. So as a result, my winter break project for the next month is to move my computer to gentoo linux and throw on xp pro which will be strippd down to just play PC games.
  6. Hak5 is slowly taking over the world, one line at a time
  7. Not sure if anyone else have known about this, or if it was posted here before, but Lifehacker yesterday had a feature on getting your bluetooth phone to interact with linux: http://lifehacker.com/software/how-to/conn...inux-332427.php
  8. you could check out a barebones OS called pintos, I know that is the OS i will be programming in my future undergraduate OS class at college. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pintos
  9. My franz ferdinand Pandora channel. I mostly try to listen stuff that doesn't have lyrics about serious stuff that will make me thing, usually something upbeat.
  10. did you get the movie off the net or were you able to find it somewhere? I have really been wanting to watch this movie.
  11. Sams Teach Yourself Insert Language Here in 24 hours/30 days is pretty good at teaching you various languages, I would definitely recommend learning either C or C++, or even a lower level language because those languages access much more crazier things about the computer as well as make you worry about various stuff such as garbage collection that languages like Java take care for you. And once you learn one of these languages, stuff like Java and C# will become absolutely easy to learn because the syntax is not that far off from C++. Also C is not an object oriented language while C++ is, and it would probably be best to learn the tough stuff first so that when you move onto C++/Java/C#/etc. things will become MUCH easier for you.
  12. I am actually a student at the school. It has been a tragic day here. I just think it is absolutely terrible how the media is ripping into the school, most of the students from my perspective believe the school did the best that they could do. I just hope that the school will be able to recover and grow stronger from this situation.
  13. sweet, thanks a lot moonlit! not sure if this will work either, im going to find a professor tomorrow and see if it will work, this definitely gives me a better idea of waht's going on.
  14. Hello, i;m currently an engineering student and have been assigned a project to develop an item that utilizes a renewable energy source, ie. wind energy. My group came up with the idea to create a wind powered iPod charger. I thought of the various altoid tin chargers people have made, so this seems like a viable idea. It doesnt necessarily have to charge the iPod WELL, but as long as i can get the charging symbol on the iPod to appear, it will be enough. I do not have much experience with developing a circuit of this sort, so would anyone have any idea as to how one would go about developing this and is it feasible to create under $10?
  15. sweet! although how should i heatshrink the wires for the 12v port because right now the metal in the soldered wires are naked and will short out the connection if it touches the metal of the cd-rom drive (it already happened once lol)
  16. 1 small strip of velcro does wonders although i was never able to heatshrink the wires for the 12v plug, i wasnt sure to put them on before or after the soldering seeing as how it was my first time soldering wires EVER
  17. i kno the paintjob isn't that great, i'm much more proud of the front myself
  18. so yesterday i decided to do wess' mod from episode 2, add the 12v accessory to your case, i also painted my case, and i stealthed my cd rom drive. it was a sweet experience and i just wanted to say, thank you hak.5, cant wait for season 2 :D
  19. cool, sorry for the n00bish question, but thanks!
  20. so i am going to be attending college in the fall, and i hav just recently begun to watch hak.5, i just finished watching episodes 3 and 4 and have come to realize how simple it is to attack someone and retrieve their information. so my question is how should i go about protecting the two computers i will be taking to college, (a desktop and laptop that both hav wireless) from attacks. the desktop runs XP, and the latop rund Xp Tablet Edition, and i do no own a wirless router, just a linksys pci adapter for the desktop and wireless built into the laptop.
  21. I thought the movie was alright, X2 is the best in the series in my opinion, but..... *SPOILER* (kind of) Did anyone else think that there was no point at all for Arch Angel being there, other than his first two scenes? ....END SPOILER...
