  1. Nice Idea, could use a little cleaning up though.

Make the "FormBorderStyle" either Fixed3D or FixedToolWindow

Ill try and whip up one of these tonight just for shits and giiggles.

  2. If all you are doing is getting rid of these computer, all you need to do is nuke the drive and reinstall windows.

    1. Backup Important Data

    2. Download a .iso for Darik's Boot and Nuke (http://dban.sourceforge.net/)

    3. Burn the .iso to a CD with something like ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com/)

    4. Put the CD into the Box and Restart

    5. Do a simple wipe, or a low level wipe (something like 3 passes of random data)

    6. Locate a Windows Recovery Disc and Reinstall Windows.

    7. Sell Machine that has no remnants of important information left

Wiping the data will take a LONG time, depending on the size of the HDD and the level of destruction it could take anywhere from a few hour to a few days.  The simple wipe (reseting all bits to zero) is quicker, but there is greater chance of recovering data.  The Medium wipe (3 passes of pseudo random data) is slower, but more secure.  Anything above that will be overkill for most people, except the DOD

Note: Any data on the Hard Drive will not be recoverable.  This will probably destroy the utility partition on the drive. I also take no responsibility if you screw it up, but I don't see how you can.

I'm not sure if thats what your looking for, but that how I would do it.  There really is no way to ensure that all confidential data is destroyed without using a boot disk and wiping the drive.

Just in case you didn't know, deleting a file to the recycle bin, or even emptying the recycle bin doesn't delete a file from the hard drive, it just marks the space as free. So it is still possible to go back and recover information.

Physically destroying the Hard Drives is any easy way to get rid of data if you don't care about buying a new hdd.  Using DBAN (Darik's boot and nuke) and doing something like 3 or 7 wipes is more than enough to foil most attempts to recover any data.

  3. hard drives do not connect to a certain display...video cards do...

In your common desktop you can typically only connect 4 IDE/SATA devices before you have to add controller cards... for the extra drives

Once again Hard drive do not connect to dvd drives they only contain the Operating System.

I would look on YouTube and other websites for information on how to paint and mod cases.

Adding an internal USB Port is just a matter of buying a PCI to USB card that has an internal usb port.  Although I wouldn't suggest mounting a WiFi adapter inside your case since it will degrade your signal quality and can cause extra inteference to your sound card.

I would suggest that you learn a lot more about computer before you start messing around with your computer, especcialy the case.  I would look at a bunch of diffrent forums about case modding and computer hardware.  Typically in case modding you need to remove all the components before cutting and painting, and then put them all back in, which is something you may not want to do.

If money is not an issue I suggest you take a look around at custom computer builders, they can do nice paint jobs and set the computer up however you want to, but it wont be cheap.

  4. I think that XP will be around for a long time....esspecially in bussiness where they will probably not want to upgrade for a long time, especially where there are compatibility issues.

Untill they can make Vista as stable as XP and they need to get rid of all the 15 diffrent versions thats totally dumb and a waste of there time.  Just make like 2 or 3 versions.  Home, Pro, Server Thats all you really need none of the premiums bullshit

  5. I wouldn't worry about...its just a program not your registry...if you really care you could reinstall FireFox

You can screw around with about:config all you want the worst thing you will do is bork your copy of firefox and have to reinstall, (don't qoute me on it though)

but you might find something cool to do. if you do post it here.

  6. Im sure that there a way to do it.... i would do a lot of googling on it....

mabey that have a copy of the fingerprint availble somewhere? did he register with missing person... can you lift a print off of something.

most of those scanners aren't impossible to fool.  Print the fingerprint on a transparency, cut it out and stick it to a piece of green/blue fun-tack and try that.... look for info on that too

Otherwise i would try and contact Sony Support it would be worth $50 to get a nice laptop especially if it has family photos and things on it

If you just neet to recover data than you can pull the hard drive and you should be able to pull some of the information off the drive as long as its not encrypted or locked by the hdd controller board

  7. I'm writing it in Visual Basic Express 2005... Right now its pretty simple but working.  Its really designed for people who are running dual-core or HT machines since it will control two services and allow you to Start/Stop Pause/Continue Them.  I'm trying to work out a way to have it auto pause both service whenever you open up a game or other .exe that you don't won't FAH running along side with.

I'm willing to share the source code... right now its kinda simple and not very well commented so I'm going to try and remake it too allow you to add/remove different clients and I'm going to try and get it to work over the network, I haven't been able to get it too work, i believe it uses RPC so I'm not sure how well that works.

If any one wants to try it out just send me your email address. Or if anyone has ideas/features they would like post them too.

Also, if anyone knows VB 2005 Express well i would really like to talk with you

  8. look into Visual C++ Express 2005/2008

You can add common components like a web browser and many other things, you could probably make tabbed browsing to. As well as toolbars and other stuff. I use Visual Basix Express 2005 and I Love it.  Its really easy to make simple porgrams and great GUI's
