I hope this is the case, I ordered when it first came out and I'm experiencing this issue.

I just sent a request but im fearful of the fact that I bought in oct 2021.

Hak5 didn't take a moment to start the delivery of a replacement. I filled out the request with all the details and I want to say that the new box was in my mail slot in about a week. Completely seamless. Outstanding team Hak5

    Hi there

this question is about warranty not ignoring your advice.  I can see why you were concerned I was ignoring your advice. I was not and have changed the topic to reflect my concerns. Sorry to have gotten it wrong first time.

I  do appreciate what you said and before raising a support ticket I wanted to check if there was any point.  I have pointed out what wonderful support you offered and HAVE filed a support ticket. Right now it's just waiting for "tech support"  got a BAD feeling about this. If it's out of warranty then I am not sure what hak5 will do. I would expect that they honor their agreement to provide me with a machine that was fully functional and NOT contain flawed memory of any nature.  Perhaps this is something I have done but we will soon find out.

I have my answer. Hak5 stand by their products. With MINIMAL fuss I reported the issue and they sent out a replacement machine within hours! Thank you so much Hak5 for being an example of a GREAT organization that gives a s#@t about the little guy.  I am a VERY happy bunny.

  4. So I bought a pvII Sept 2020 and used it periodically.  I decided to update the version from what it shipped with to the latest and am getting FLASH ERROR.  Someone mentioned that some pvll's were shipped with a problem which only crops up now the 2.0 checks the memory. I am using a https://plugable.com/products/usb2-hub-ag7/ with output 5v at 3a

What will Hak5 do to remedy this?  I want to use the latest version of the software designed for the product they shipped me.

here are the steps I went through to get to this point which I followed thanks to the wonderful dark_pyrro   support where he indicated this could be a version 1.0 vs 2.0 problem

factory reset as per the link https://docs.hak5.org/wifi-pineapple/faq/factory-reset-and-recovery a

uploaded the recovery file mk7_recovery_1.0.1.bin   to get to a blue SOLID light

uploaded the latest firmware when prompted   upgrade-2.1.3-stable.2022101708401.bin

    http://172.16.42.1:1471  and got

    FLASH ERROR

    FLASH ERROR

  5. Yep I  mistyped sorry

right now I factory reset as per the link

uploaded the recovery file mk7_recovery_1.0.1.bin   to get to a blue SOLID light

uploaded the latest firmware when prompted   upgrade-2.1.3-stable.2022101708401.bin

    http://172.16.42.1:1471  and got

    FLASH ERROR

    FLASH ERROR

Seems that this machine has problems. AGAIN you come to the rescue, your suggestion to raise a support issue seems the correct path and I will do that. I bought this machine some time ago and put it aside whilst I was away. I REALLY hope Hak5 will do the right thing, I am sure they will.

thank you so much for all your help dark_pyrro you are what makes the web great.

  6. I did do both of those things and nothing worked. I flushed the cache, purged and reloaded firefox. I suspect this machine is possessed 🙂    I'll keep plugging away at this THANKS to your wonderful help.  I don't want to bother you with this firefox issue as you have been so kind.

I'll keep this thread open so others can see how an noob works their way through this.

thanks for sticking with me on this.

  7. Thanks so much for clarifying my thinking.  I don't know what I was thinking.  You made some excellent points and I learnt some things as this is NOT my skill set that's why I bought this PVII.  REALLY helpful. So I read through your replies and decided to go back to basics. I am STUCK because firefox will not stop adding https and that's something I have to fix before continuing and I don't want to bother you with that. I did write up what I am experiencing and where I am right now just in case anyone else hits this problem. I'll try to document it as I go.

This alone won't reset your Pineapple

I followed the instructions below, what am I missing please?

    1 FACTORY RESET

I followed the instructions from this link https://docs.hak5.org/wifi-pineapple/faq/factory-reset-and-recovery and the light is solid red

The LED should blink RED rapidly, and then remain SOLID RED. If the status LED changes to BLUE, disconnect the power and repeat the process. Make sure the button is held in firmly, and release the button after approximately three flashes of the RED LED.

I CANNOT get firefox to use http as it keeps putting in https.

I have turned off https mode in firefox but it still happens.

    flushed and reinstalled firefox

sudo apt-get --purge --reinstall install firefox

    turned OFF autofill

browser.urlbar.autoFill to toggle it from true to false.

    then put

    http://172.16.42.42

    flushed the cache
    tried everything in safe mode

So, thanks to you, I have a plan and more tools in my linux comms toolkit.  This is not fixed but until I get this https issue under control I don't see how I can progress.

  8. I got into this mess because I downloaded the latest firmware from hak5  upgrade-2.1.3-stable.2022101708401.bin without doing the recovery file thing

    https://docs.hak5.org/wifi-pineapple/faq/factory-reset-and-recovery

as the pvii was working.followed the instructions to upload the firmware which it told me was done successfully. THEN the update (red/blue) alternating went through it's cycle and then went SOLID RED = bad USB file.

and I think I corrupted the firmware.  The issue is that I can't get the recovery working now. I CAN get the pvii hooked up to the linux box but I can't 172.16.42.42. It's there but I can't browse to it. It tried both incognito and flushing the browser cache just in case. I have hard reset the pvii ( hold reset for three flashes solid red) but NOTHING I do works. HELP!!!

trying to get at it after hard reset using browser to https://172.16.42.42 gets me a  "unable to connect error"

I tried flushing the browser cache, using incognito and vanilla firefox nothing worked.

I tried to 172.16.42.1:1471 to see if there was ANY help and I see the FLASH ERROR screen BUT then after a reboot I got "unable to connect"

I am using a Linux mint machine so I followed https://docs.hak5.org/wifi-pineapple/setup/connecting-to-the-wifi-pineapple-on-linux  which seemed to work

    enx001337a71044: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qdisc fq_codel state UP group default qlen 1000

        inet6 fe80::b9a1:fdb5:689f:830f/64 scope link noprefixroute
           valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever

I CANNOT use the browser (private

    I can ping 172.16.42.1

    ping 172.16.42.1
    PING 172.16.42.1 (172.16.42.1) 56(84) bytes of data.
    64 bytes from 172.16.42.1: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.224 ms

    can't ssh into 42.42 using password hak5pineapple

    ssh root@172.16.42.42
    root@172.16.42.42's password:
    Permission denied, please try again.
    root@172.16.42.42's password:

    CAN ping 42.42

    64 bytes from 172.16.42.42: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.057 ms

SO I removed the power. Waited for 10 minutes just in case.  Held the reset button in, three red flashes then solid red.  THE ABOVE is where I am right now.

So the pvII is on the linux box with a SOLID red light and I can't get into it HELP PLEASE

  9. A great friend owns and operates a online tv station that MIGHT get hit by net neutrality throttling. I mentioned that you guys are the best when it comes to figuring out rational ways around things AND have products to sell. His normal audience is about 30,000  people ( I think) all of which would be interested in stuff you sell.

let me know who to email so I can hook you guys up. I don't want to say the name of the company on this forum BUT you will know it when I send the email

  10. done all the usual reset to factory stuff.  Power off dips 1u2d3d4u5up  Power back on. wait for 15 minutes. dips to all UP then Power back on and configuration stays in memory???? the LED's are doing this all the time. I have flashed the beta 3 to firmware about a year ago? ANY ideas how to REALLY factory reset please?

    Eth0 is your network.

    Hey Barry

thanks for the reply AND I got the damn thing working. Seems it didn't like the wp6.sh on the PV for some reason. The MOMENT I used the wp5.sh I was back in business.  with the wp6.sh it seemed to loop on the detection phase. I suppose because it wasn't using USB. Still it's working fine now. Thanks for all your GREAT help.

  12. downloaded wp6.sh  made executable runs BUT think I have this wired up wrong?

the pineV is connected on ETH0  via the rj45

the wlan0 is on an alpha awus036nha

my PARROTOS  pc is connected to xfinitywifi using wlan0

I boot into PARROTOS  and connect to xfinitywifi and successfully browse to cnn.com to test it using the firefox browser.

I run ./wp6.sh and take the guided option BUT don't really get which interface is for the INTERNET?  is it ETH0 or Wlan0

the youtube videos I have found seem to have a different wp6.sh

if someone can point me at a youtube that covers this I would be grateful

Just doing a bit of research to see if I could find out what I was doing wrong and this guy has EXACTLY the same problem ???

  13. Hi there

I have an awus036nh and I wanted to change the country code on it. Is there some reason why the newer ones ( I bought it  about 1 year ago, cannot have the country code changes in Parrot OS or Kali?   I "thought" I used to be able to set the country code to GY or BO but it doesn't seem to work anymore.

thanks for any help at all

Ok | Forget the tap on the shoulder I was giving myself |
Now the Pineapple Mark V's blue LED flashes and the red one doesn't light up anymore |
Can't access the device anymore |

my suggestion go back to first principals. Solid Blue light means the unit is ready, it flashes for Wlan0 when traffic goes through it,

green light is just to show power and the Red light is for Wlan1 Red - WLAN1 (RTL8187) (Antenna by dip switches)

    so check dip switches

  15. GREAT point sorry. I am in the USA.

to be honest I didn't even know you could get non sim card phones. Either is fine by me.

cheapest possible as this is just a test scenario thing.

I don't want to sign any contracts.

I figured that this would be so common for the group that there would be some kind of consensus as to a cheap 4g disposable phone that can be easily tethered to a linux pc and thus to a pineappleV to provide the net connectivity. I see you are in Ireland. In the states we can buy all sorts of cheap 4g phones with pre paid plans. I was just wondering if there is a pre paid preference as to plan and phone, I don't need a top of the range smart phone as I won't be using it.  All I want is something that could act as a hotspot and a little phone usage.

thanks for ANY help you can offer.

  16. hi all

want to get a 4g phone for tethering to my Ubuntu 16.10 pc and to share the connection with my PineV.  I want to get the no contract month to month paying cash. SO what is the best plan and cheapest phone that will get the job done. I don't normally carry a phone and so this will be it's only real use, I don't care about music/photos etc I live in a city so pretty much all the carriers are supported.

I figure you all have a better idea than me. thanks in advance.
