  2. Sorry for the confusion, I've edited my post a bit to give you guys more info, Thank you Infiltrator and Joeypesci for the advice/reference. And Mr. Protocol I do have authorization but thank you for caring all the same. Looks like I have a lot of securitytube to watch. Thanks guys -Remotesh
  3. I know it takes a while to learn some pen testing techniques thats why I want to start now so I have till next year to expand my "utility belt" per say. I should have stated that I am not going to pen test the real environment. And its not my job as much as it is my assignment. We are going to have a small setup of 5-10 windows boxes, and a few laptops from the laptop carts. This is all so that we can put together a powerpoint/report so that we may inform the teachers/staff on what can happen, and how to tell if you're system is compromised and not to leave your computer logged in and such (You wouldn't believe how many times some of the students mess with the teacher by taking picture of their desktop and putting all the files in a folder and such.) Sorry for the confusion. Thanks, -Remotesh
  4. Hey guys, Mind giving me some advice/tips? (References and such.) My school is getting full wifi next year. (As in all the students are going to be allowed to connect to it with their machines, along with the teachers.) And as the Network Admin assistant, my job is to pentest it. (Its more of an assignment than a job) Since most of our machines are windows xp sp3 boxes hooked via lan, and laptops teachers/students will bring in. I was thinking of using armitage for a quick and dirty pentest (On a controlled environment!!!), to get access, etc Basically find common exploits. (So I can put together a report so that we may inform the teachers/staff) I ask you what you guys would do. Note* Im on a backtrack 4 / Windows 7 64bit Asus Eee 1201n netbook as my pentesting machine. At home I've set up some VM's but I have only really worked on single windows xp computers not a windows vista/7 and mac's. All help is appreciated -Remotesh
  5. Im in the market to buy two Radeon HD5770 to replace my 260 gtx myself, are there any downfalls to just buying one HD5770 and pairing it up with my 260? Will i still get a performance boost when playing games?
  6. I don't think those fans are going to solve all of your heating problems, I myself would seriously look at Jason Cooper's idea. Those fans of course are a great start to keep it a little cooler but fans are designed to blow air across or suck out hot air etc, but if the air around it is hot than its going to be spreading the hot air around it. But if you had those fans and a tent with an air cooler. You would probably be set.
  7. If you got a little bit of extra dough try looking at the Asus Transformers, seems to have everything you want for 300, 500 if you want the extra battery/physical keyboard dock. Was looking into getting one of these bad boys myself but i bought a 1201n instead. Runs android 3.0 so your apps shouldn't be a problem, has nice processor, and great battery life (Or so the reviews say) link to asus's website: http://promos.asus.com/US/EeePadTransformer/?gclid=CLq52-mtw6gCFapl7AodxFPwsQ
  8. Google Chrome is my fav, and im on my asus 1201n running ubuntu 10.04, win7 64bit, and backtrack4. Use google chrome in all of em but pair it with firefox / opera in backtrack for different vulnerability testing.
  9. So i want to learn a new language fairly fast, (I can program in Visual Basic (Yeah i know not so good as a language)) I really want to learn C++ as I will be taking Comp Sci next year as a Junior. Do you guys know of any good tutorials to start off with? Should i learn a language other than C++? If so do you have any good tutorials and such to start off with? Note* I will also go out and buy books if you guys recommend some good ones. Any help would be appreciated, -Remotesh
  10. If it hassles you too much, why not just make a script and put it on your desktop so that it will do it for you when clicked.
  11. Strategy: Warcraft 3 FPS: Bad Company 2 RPG: World Of Warcraft All time favorite has to be Minecraft, who doesn't like a game where you fight zombies, spiders, skeletons, and gather materials to make whatever comes to mind at the time? Also it was made by a single person which I find extremely cool.
  12. I have an asus eee 1201n, Its a dual core 1.6 i have upgraded it to 4gb ram. And an upgraded 7200 rpm harddrive. It has the nvidia ion chipset. I can run WoW on high.
  13. So I recently bought an asus 1201n on craigslist for 300 bucks cash, It has upgraded 4gb ram and a 7200 160gb hard drive, and it boots fine and what not loads fast and stuff. (Windows XP) Well of course I bought this as my pentesting machine so I installed backtrack on and lo and behold trackpad didn't work. I figured it was a driver issue so I went and set up a dual boot with windows 7 64bit and to my surprise the trackpad buttons still didn't work. Note* The trackpad itself works, just not the right and left click. Is there a tutorial around that shows a detailed process on how to remove the buttons and fix this problem carefully? I would also like to know if anyone knows a program that will allow me to control the fan speed as eeectl doesnt work on the 1201n. Thanks for the help guys.
