Rogue DHCP servers are those DHCP servers that are misconfigured or unauthorized unknowingly or those that are configured with a malicious intent for network attacks. Either be the case the impact on clients that are serviced by the rogue DHCP servers are critical. That is the clients would experience network access problems due to rogue DHCP server leasing incorrect IP addresses & incorrect options to the client. Security threats are caused when malicious user with rogue DHCP server can spread bad network parameters and thereby sniff the traffic sent by the clients. There are also certain Trojans like DNS-changing that uses a compromised machine in the network to pollute the network by installing rogue DHCP servers on the machine.

Rogue detection tool is a GUI tool that checks if there are any rogue DHCP servers in the local subnet.

Following are the features with this tool:

    1. The tool can be run one time or can be scheduled to run at specified interval.

    2. Can be run on a specified interface by selecting one of the discovered interfaces.

    3. Retrieves all the authorized DHCP servers in the forest and displays them.

    4. Ability to validate (not Authorize in AD) a DHCP server which is not rogue and persist this information

    5. Minimize the tool, which makes it invisible. A tray icon will be present which would display the status

  2. The link to the torrent seems to be down, are these still avaliable as the mass 40gb?

I have been working with Renderman to setup a backup tracker to the Schmoo group on the OMGIRC servers. I will update this posting once its up.

At the moment we are looking for users that have successfully downloaded the hashes to start seeding on the backup torrent tracker. Private msg me if you can help!

  3. GTFO. I honestly don't care if that offends anyone or not, I hate ignorance like this. Anyways, the reason it's probably not installing is probably because you are missing a dependancy or more...

he's most likely getting the error involving the wireless.h on compile.

I have resolved it and posted a how-to on my blog (see previous post)

  4. I know this topic has been argued since the birth of 802.11x but it's good to see peoples views on the laws and have a heated discussion about it.

You never know what comes from collaboration in mass!

  5. Ugg, I hate my 90 gb bandwidth cap, and not knowing how much bandwidth I have used :( Maybe some one could burn some DVD's and we can send them around :)

I would be down to start a snail-mail list for users that want burned copies, but, i also don't want to take away from renderman's donations for the discs he burns and mails out.

  6. Sorry here is the command. I figured its was a problem with the rainbow table not the command.

    ./cowpatty -r /root/linksys_a-01.cap -d linksys2.wpa -s teamA

Where did you get the table from? Is there a md5 hash for it?

I still can't find the 40gb Rainbow table torrent :(

  7. Blackberry FTL

iPhone (even 2g) works very well with the Hak5 website. I get topic notifications via email and it's quite easy to check up on a post immediately after its been updated.

FYI for iPhone users that want to watch Hak5, if you jailbreak, there are plenty of podcast related software in the cydia repos that will allow you to watch Hak5 without any issues.

    Enjoy :)

  8. This os is pretty neat, it looks really cool, very simple to use, i wold recommend trying it out. Plus its blazing fast

I think i'll stick to my Ubuntu 9.04 Netbook Remix on my ASUS eeePC 900.

BTW, if anyone is having graphics issues (laggy) i put up a kernel patch to fix it quickly.

  9. No clue, they've actually been down for several months. I'll ask the other Church guys if they know. I'm just the local iTard wrangler.

Ask them if they want me to host it. I have massive bandwidth per month that I'm not even taking a dent out of.

    I'm always down to contribute!

  10. I am currently thinking about getting an Alfa AWUS036H 500 mW, and I came across this. Has anyone ever used this, it says it is plug and play in Backtrack 3. Is it the same range as the Alfa. I want to get one before I go on Vacation. Thanks

I was thinking about buying a Alfa 500mW as well, i've been hearing good things about them but when i saw darren rocking one I finally sat down and did some research about it.

That Rok500 looks nice, but is a bit on the cheap side. You know what they say, you get what you paid for.

At the moment I'm thinking about getting a Ubiquiti BULLET2 with a nice beefy omni antenna for my outdoor wireless setup. http://www.wlanparts.com/product/BULLET2-O...from_Comet.html

I really don't like the guys @ wlanparts. They're located a mere mile away from my office and wont let me pay online + pick up to save on shipping DESPITE their website stating that they accept pickups with payments on the website...
