I would of gone with the re-partition/install in the first place. Wubi is for users that was to try out Ubuntu but don't have the basic know-how of installing it from scratch.

your getting better gaming performance in wine??? When the hell did that happen?
What games are you playing and how many hours did you have to tweak it?!
I always got HORRID experience with games in wine, if they even worked at all.
Little to no tweeks and i get great performance. Of course, if you want "awesome" performance some tweeks are usually in order, like for WoW for instance. I mainly play Steam based games, which require no additional modification and work great "out of the box".

Oh.. Lol.
Think I diserve a face palm, in the nads right now.. I feel dumb..
Cheer miT for clearing that up for me. :)
<3
Me love you long time.

Do windows games really run faster under linux? Wow. I didnt expect that. Id expect a performance hit due to emulation..
Wow, I'll have to check that out some time :)
*Face.palm*
W.i.n.e. = Wine is not (an) emulator
Well of course you're going to get a performance increase when 99% of your system resources are available for a game to eat up (unlike XP which doesnt like to share!)

UPDATE:
I've had a tutorial on getting RoM running on Ubuntu for awhile now, just recently reposted a how-to for those who are having the "No EULA / Login" display issue, a quick registry hack will get you up and running in no time! :)
------------------------------------
Hail fellow adventurers,
I searched for a way to get RoM to work under Wine on linux a couple months back. I love playing my Windows games under linux because they run so much faster! All of my steam games get amazing framerates compared to running them under Windows XP. Having been spoiled by the kicka$$ performance that linux gives me, i strive to figure out a way to get RoM running nicely under Wine on Ubuntu Linux.
In this tutorial, i show you how to Install Wine, RoM and the Curse Client on Ubuntu Linux.
Enjoy!

miT, could you send me one of those invite codes please? It looks like an interesting service, and I wanna try it out, and I need a VPN. What are the speeds on it?
They closed the beta invites. Sorry!

So, yea, it voids the warranty. Put the normal iPhone os back before taking it in for service.
WRONG. You can't void the warranty if you can just reflash it before giving it back to apple. Cmon now.
-
btw. just tried icy on iphone 3gs and decided Icy blows. Errors out the wazoo.
Out of the 5 friends and 4 co-workers that i've jailbroken for, i've never had any issue what-so-ever. Icy is way better than cydia, IMO. Even the little things, like the anti screen lock on installs. Plus it looks damn sexy :)
I think you did something wrong. I would start over.
-
If you take a jailbroken iphone in to the apple store they have every right to refuse providing service to you because you've voided the warranty. if you do jailbreak it, do a restore before taking it in. Then you'll be okay.
Hence why i suggested to restore the original Apple firmware ;)

Lol. Sounds good.
Maybe Matt could branch off from his corporate network setup segment, and do a small one on some tips for a home server. I'm sure your articles will come in useful then :)
I actually really enjoy Matt's take on corporate networks. Prolly because I'm the senior network admin at a corporation myself, lol. I also like the fact that Darren has finally seen the light and is making the "switch". This would be a better segment for him, IMO.

Recommended IRC channels?
#chatzone on irc.omgirc.com has a bunch of linux geeks that share info

Depends on the network. Some networks obfuscate or "cloak" your IP with a hostmask or vanity host and others just display your IP. Some networks will provide a vhost upon request, like Freenode, you just have to ask a staff member to provide you with one. Alternatively, if you're particularly paranoid and the network allows it, you can proxy/connect through a shell, which provides the network the IP of your shell instead of you home machine.
If the IRC network you're connecting to DOESN'T mask your IP, don't chat there. Vhosts are nice (and sometimes funny) to use but usually require you to execute a command or two for the server to place the virtual host onto your connection.
If you plan on using a proxy, i wouldn't suggest Tor. Networks like mine (irc.omgirc.com) filter tor connections due to abuse. Just a FYI.
I have some invite codes for ipredator.se (TPB's vpn service) if you need a decent VPN/Proxy service.
Stay anonymous!

Awesome miT, that sounds great!
You going to be post that up on your blog, or on the forums here?
Cheers :)
Probably both :) I've sent some detailed "How-to" articles to feedback@hak5.org to help out with segments if they come up with writers block. I'll most likely submit the "perfect server article" once it gets bashed by all the linux gurus on here that are leet3r than i.

Solved thanks to a reply on the Arch forums.
Was a syntax problem.
Just got back to the forums so i missed this, but i've recently stumbled upon LuckyBackup. A nice GUI for rsync for lazy people like myself :)
Putting up a "Perfect Linux Server" article up soon that shows everything i setup on a fresh linux server rollout, check it :)

I was wondering if I install cydia on my iphone. Does this void the warranty for apple and also lose apple care. I could not find any information about this. Thanks...
As far as i know, no. Since it's just the firmware on the device itself. You could always flash it back to the stock Apple firmware before taking it back, and if you can't reflash it before taking it back, odds are they wont be able to read the jailbroken flash to void your warranty.
Side note: Cydia is going away slowly (just like the Installer.app has). Icy is where its at now ;)

If you need another LAMP server than create a new VM and install Ubuntu server edition on it and during setup check the "LAMP Server" box and it will install everything for you.
Beat me to it!

for me it depends on which O.S.
I was under the impression that we were listing fav windows apps... my list of apps is VERY big on linux. There's just so much i can do on that platform, its insane.
irc client (+1 for xchat2 mentioned above)Aww shucks

I would scrap winscp and go with FileZilla. I use it on Linux as well as Windows, it also supports SFTP.
As far as windows goes:
Putty
FileZilla
Skype
AVG (or Avast, anything thats free)
XChat2
Trillian
PlayXpert (Thanks Snubs!)
Firefox (w/ various mandatory addons)

Hey, has anyone gotten the python scripting to work in airpwn 1.4? I upgraded the python implementation from 2.4 to my system python version 2.5 and reinstalled airpwn. While trying the python example included in airpwn 1.4 I get this:
I know you've probably already checked this, but does conf/pyexample exist?

That is interesting because I'm working on a project to build a Metasploit module to do DHCP attacks. I'll have to give this a test, see if I can get round it.
Please do! Let me know how the progress goes :)
WPA Handshake not working

I had this issue when i was testing my WPA with my password in a text file along with some common dictionary words. My password was at the very end of the file so it should of been successful in the end. I couldn't figure it out and moved on.
After I grabbed aircrack-ng from the svn, it worked like a charm. I would suggest getting the latest and greatest and trying again.
