  1. your one of the reasons/people that are making me hate hak5.

    congratulations

seriously bro! you go to the extreme... if your appreciation of things depends on individuals... then you won't go far in this world...

i was teasing you and obviously it did not work... so my apologies.. it's sincere, you can trust me :(

    take care

you dont need to tease people to have fun.

if teasing is not "fooling around and having some fun... then what is it?

you said it was a waste of your time... i did not force to click on the link...

  3. waste of my time and b/w

you're the only owner of your time... therefore the only one to manage it :D

if you wasted your time, it probably means that you have a hard time in general managing your time... which would mean that you're as bored as I am...

    peace bro...

  4. The origin of the name Scotland Yard is not certain. One theory mentions that the land was once owned by a Mr. Adam Scot, while another suggests that the land had been set aside as a London residence for the Kings of Scotland, which was never built. Early in the 17th century, noted architects Inigo Jones and Christopher Wren lived in a house on the site, as did poet John Milton.

By 1887, the Yard was running out of space, and a new building was constructed on the Thames Embankment. After numerous expansions, New Scotland Yard was built in 1967 on Victoria Street. We found a picture of this modern office building at Britannica.com's Scotland Yard entry, which mentioned that Great Scotland Yard had in fact been the site of a London palace used by visiting Scottish kings in medieval times.

So in all and all... We don't know..... hmm... still a bit stupid to keep calling your police "scotland yard"... I mean if somehow you don't know why you call it that way... then why keeping call it that way?

Regarding what you said Metatron about Scotish and English... i think there is more into it than just the Scotish hating the English because of controlling their lands....

  5. http://www.met.police.uk/

Scotland Yard is a place in London, its where the MET or metroplitan police (the main london police force) have there head quaters. Its not even a actual police station, has no cells, so its just kinda like a office block.

well then... why calling the police Scotland Yard? i did not ask what was Scotland Yard... more why is it called that way... it would be a bit stupid to call a police according to an office place in a certain location.

"well Prime Minister... let's called the police Scotland Yard.."

    "why George?"

"well.... because you know that old building located in Scotland Yard?.... ya well that's why...."

  6. I was thinking about getting a certification for Microsoft Visual Basic. Is this a good idea, or i should i go for some other kind of certification. I'm already being taught at school to take the certification test for Microsoft Office 2003. Also, how about C# certification? Thanks in advance.

Certifications are good, but without a degree like a BS in CS as foundation they won't take you anywhere...

so focus more on a general degree and look the certif. for later....

  7. Ok ok...

    it's a dumb question ... i know ...

why is the english police called "Scotland Yard"... I though Scotish hated English and vice versa ... goes the same with the Irish...

so english boys... what's the whole deal with calling your police "scotland yard"

    i warned ya... it's a dumb question....

  9. ok so.. .we got pretty much debian and slackware running on the same level... where will u place Gentoo?

Gentoo is a great distro and one of my favourite, but in my opinion is not overly suitable for old hardware and the install can be very time consuming but if you have a modern computer it’s one of the best distro’s you can use.

looks like the kernel used by Slackware is newer than the one Debian is using right now. Is the release of Slackware´s version much often than Debian?

  10. I like Slackware and have been using it for years but I really can’t say anything about Vector Linux as I have never used it and just because something is based on a good distro doesn’t mean that it is good.

you mean like ubuntu and debian

ever installed slackware on a laptop?

  11. The enormously popular Slackware is the true 'Unix' of Linux distributions and is used by major corporations, universities and home users alike. Its popularity stems from the fact that it is a robust, versatile and almost unbreakable system

    taken from http://vectorlinux.com/

Well "unbreakable system", I am not sure about it - how is Slackware compared to Debian?

    WYT (what ya think)

  12. Ok guys ....

I know this kind of discussion has occured more than once, but i need to bring it up for my situation.

Well I need to start looking for a graduate study program for 2006-07! I know it's kinda early

well i've found that page http://www.universities.com/On-Campus/Mast...t_Services.html with good info related to diverses universities! the trick is that I kind of like all the different "IT" program listed there and "Job-wise" I am not sure what would be better to do!

    see what I mean?

so if you're working or had done one of them, please share your experiences

    ta

  13. debianuser, how do you take care of your gaming fix under linux? How do you resist not playing HL2, CS:S, Fear, etc...? I play doom and Quake under linux, but there are some games that are not suported natively, but some games such as the ones listed(mostly HL2 and all mods) are a b!+ch to run under linux with some speed.

    I don't play games  ... I stopped when i was 17.. that was 5 years ago :)

social life guys!!!! social life!!!! 8)

  14. The more and more I got into Computers, the more I noticed how windows sucks. I always fould that every thing just works under linux, nothing breaks unless I break it (I had many "whoops" moments under linux, but I was smart to make [config_file].conf.backup). I always hated using windows built in networking, it never worked the way that I wanted it. I should beable to just enter in the IP of the computer that is hosting the printer.

    </rant>

85% of my life is under linux, and soon, the 15% under windows should be soon replaced by linux or OSX (I'm looking into geting a MacMini, or just emulate it)

    and I say.. AMEN...

  15. Ok, not sure i gave the right title to this thread (modo is welcome to correct it)

Have you ever experienced that once you did use a hardware or a program on your computer with windows and that one day you tried it under linux, and it was not only better but like 10.00000 times better?!

ok, I have been a linux user for a time now, preferably a Debian-user; since yesterday I was finally able to make my wireless chypset work and guess what, in a room apart from the living room, where I usually get 1% connectivity with windows (using the same computer, logging on my home wireless network), I get now 91% connectivity with linux. Monster difference - huh?

me who tought my wireless card sucked! piou!! windows sucked and still sucks :-p

    anyone? any other experiences? share...

    thx

  18. This should probably be in questions but.... yea coldfusion and php have similer properties. Both have their advantages. I like the way coldfusion handles database interaction. It just looks 'nicer' than php way of handling DB interaction.

Coldfusion could be described as a 'glue'. It allows one to blend quite a few technologies together. Java, C dlls, etc... That said.... it is pretty slow.

Choice between the two?...it depends on what you want to do.. :) shit answer I know.

ya - i gave it a look! seems more organized but i'll stick with PHP and MYSQL

what i don't get is all customers who always ask "do you know COLDFUSION?"

seriously - what's the deal with it, if I can do the same thing, ten times faster using php and mysql?!

  19. The reason to make a danish website, was to have the posibility to debate in danish and maybe make danish events

Well Lenny - i am presently not far away from Copenhaguen, precisely in Greve!

I don't think there is any need for "subtitling" the shows since they all freakin speak english in this country!!!

i think "GO for IT" if you got time to waste --- otherwise start digging for more hacks to share
