  1. Hello all

could anyone explained me what happened?

I was working on my inspiron Dell 8600, finished the work, close the laptop, got out with the laptop in hands; while walking, i heard the hard disk spinning a little bit till I arrived in the office, and when I opened the laptop, I saw yah the ded blue screen microsoft, so I shut it down, and started the laptop again.. and this time I get an error "not bootable media found.." :?

si I boot with linux distro... nothing, no hardisk

    what happened  !

anyone could explain what happened... and what to do... i had two partitions on this hard disk with important datas.,,

    thx

  2. Okey thx.

I need to make partitions for my FreeBSD, i am trying to make an install in WM Ware so how can i make partitions in that, or do i have to use fdisk and if i have to where can i dl it from and mount it in wmware

i am not sure I am getting what you're saying, is your Wmware image of FreeBSD a compilation of the full freebsd iso file?

however if you downloaded the normal iso file of freebsd, Fdisk should be available, otherwise check the md5 of your file to see if it's corrupted....

fdisk is something compiled by default in all kernels ---

  3. I dislike YaST, it needs 2 minutes for every change you make.

yup plus de fact that Yast manage its own config files -- pretty absurd, but anyway Suse's choise..

I will say start with Debian.... it's pretty easy actually and manage the dependensies really well using apt-get, over 15400 packages availables.

Ubuntu is another choice, especially if you're running on a laptop.. But with those kind of distro, they do everything for you and you ain't gonna learn a lot..

the other distributions are also good! if you find them to heavy to load or to run, you just need to kill and disable some services! i know that by default suse loads a lot of them. Another thing to keep in my mind, is that Red Hat for a while used to not follow the standart of using and arranging the folder system such as /etc /lib and so on... dunno if they kept the same in Fedora... if they did... you really wanna say away from that mess....

a way to learn is to start on www.linux.org -> Courses

    yours,

  4. I'm sick of hearing about all these conficts, why does mini me in N. Koreia want to bomb the US. Why are we in the middle east, switch to ethonal/Hydrogen/Electric and 98% of the middle east is not our problom.

    $0.02 deposited

you're a typical proof of American Ignorance - brother!

open up a bit . it won't hurt

I would, but I dont give a s#@t about the differance between Iraq and Iran. I care more about how the dmca is scewing America.

    sure....

now go back play with your toys

  6. You can’t stop human nature, I say let them kill each other.

    scary what we're capable of....

like Bush said this is a big sh*t..

I just wonder if Iran and Syria are looking for a good reason to strike back Israel - coz as far as I know - The Hezbullah is mainly composed of syrians and supported by Iran. I found Mr. Assad to be a bit quiet since the beginning of the conflict...

oh well at least, the French sent a minister there....

  7. Its not a simple issue... if syria would just restrain hezboulla, europe & america could restrain israel, maybe get some peace keepers in there. As it is, israel considers itself under attack similar to the 6 day war, and given jewish and recent middle east history, are not prepeared to put the gun down first.

You have to remeber that when israel was created, syria and lebenon both said they would give land to palisten, but then walked out on the deal, leaving us with the situation we have now.

Palistien needs to stop playing the victim every chance it gets, and deal with the terroirst problem. American & Europe need to send in peace keepers, to the border areas on all fronts, against the various countrys wishes if nesacarry. Why? There the only force strong enough to do it. Lebenon and syria need to deal with there hezboulla issue. Israel needs to get is soliders back, and to be held back. We know they have a NBC capibility, and I can see them using it before to long.

One last thing, there are 3 sides to every war, your gov., the other gov., and civilians.

using a nuclear bomb would also affect Israel as well! I don't think they will go that far...

I am not sure the US or either Europe would try anything (don't tell me about Switzerland  )! you should check the video clip between Bush and Blair on http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/07/17/bush.tape/index.html

  8. How come human's stupidity can reach such extend?

when you think of it - you wonder why we don't just take a gun and shoot ourselves!

maybe that way the cactus will live more quietly -

any ways, hackers can help stopping the war?

a dream - huh! oh well... we're all good to hack windows - huh?

    cheers,

  9. Wow, you are very weired (like my spelling). You will never be evil overloard of the Earth if you do things like this , learn to not care!! :P

dude.... stop poisonning the forum... SERIOUSLY!

Kainchick > I will just take him to the veto, you could google some rescue animal ministry association - they could help ya... but ya I know how it feels when you get birds in that shape... it's sad to say but if you don't do anything, it's gonna die in few days -- few of the birds I tried to save by myself ended up dying and yes! they could not fly anymore even though on the outside they seemed ok. A bird not used to a cage, usually can hardely make it -

hope you get to know what to do

    - peace

  10. Hey guys

I know some of you have Unix running thru ur blood stream, but i have been playing around with linux for a little while now, and over here in australia at news agencies theres these Linux Magazines popping up everywere. Are these magazines any good? do they have the content and expert opinions like the normal PC/windows mags do??

Or are these guys just trying to cash in on the Linux market thats for ever growing?

    Thanks in advance

Well first of all if you want "info" about linux, there are defenately plenty plenty plenty of website which goes from the "general" (overview of linux) to being more specific... so if you want to even not buy anything, it's completely fine with what's online, i can give you some links if you're interrested.

About books and magazines... well i will say buy a book instead of a magazine... I mean... seriously the magazine will just maybe give you some tips, some more how to's (which you find easely online), but then a book is much more solid, a bit expensive, but worth the money - the linux books of Oreilly are great and seriously if you are new to linux, try Linux for dummies... we all started somewhere

anyway... ask more if you need help....

  11. or if there is a better sollution then AutoPatcher?

just switch to linux  and forget about AutoPatcher

Dude Sparda asked whether Autopathcer is reliable, and if there's a better solution, and you just say "Use Linux". You could answer that about anything, but it's not a help is it?!

    true bro!.... true

  12. I've played guitar, bass, and keys for about 21 yrs. Dabbled in drums.

I never want to play in a cover band again.

why not? playing in a band is somehow what makes music more interresting - you get to improve a lot more...

  13. Most show seem to come and go quickly. I think they lose interest after a few shows when they realise how much work is involved.

    right!

I wonder how long will Hak.5 go on

  14. Other then that I wouldn’t use a drum sampler as it doesn’t sound as good as setting up and recording a real drum kit.

    amen brother! :)

the music sounded cool though! you're the BA musician here - so what do you think? can it be enough to come up with a fairly good album cd?

  15. I've played guitar for 16 years, drums 10 and piano for 14 years. I also have a BA in Applied Music.

I have a lot of recording equipment and me and a few of my friend like to record some stuff from time to time but I came to the realisation years ago that I would never be famous so I mostly play for fun.

I'm planning on finishing my home recording studio when I get some time of and I would love to buy or set up a professional recording studio in the future as a business.

hey maybe something interresting, you should check this episode of "LabRats"

http://labrats.tv/episodes/ep31.html -- maybe you already did Smile

and I would defenately want to hear your drumming Laughing

  16. I installed Cygwin with the OPEN SSH package as instructed in 2600 issue 22:3, article "Securing Your Wireless Network" The article states to run cygwin and type "net start sshd" in order to have the server start with Windows. But when I do this I get the error message: "The service name is invalid"

How do I start the server?

hmm... did you check in windows running services?
