Got it going - starts up and uses a lot of CPU and IE running Pandora takes up 136,312k according to Task Manager. I just noticed a big reduction in CPU ... it seems Turbo Boost died again. Songs are playing in regular time. Oh wait, it was playing regular, now it's halted. I was able to close IE and SProxy with no problems though. No rush - take your time - I've got to go through all the stuff I've captured anyway! Thanks for your time ZZJ :)

I replaced the DLL file with the older version and it still got 'stuck'. Just tried and (unfortunately) I ran into the same thing. It gets to the radio stations, then freezes up. Pandora says it's taking longer, and I can't close SProxy - I must kill the process. I can close the browsers tho (IE & FF). I also removed the .conf file as mentioned earlier. Is anyone else running into this or is it just me? And I really was kidding about the Widget!!! lol I did download the Pandora widget way back in the days of using Pandora the way it was originally built. It usually crapped out most of the time even after several installs, so I just gave up on it.

Was just kidding about the Widget... I removed SProxy.conf from the folder. In IE, it is saying "Waiting for http://pandora.com/include/radioAdEmbedGenre.jsp? ..." and the "It's taking longer than expected..." and just sitting there. It's just sitting there. I can't even resize the PS Log screen, and I can't click on anything in SProxy, so I have to force the program closed. Was going to download the previous version but you must have pulled it.

Just downloaded the new version. I started SProxy, then opened up IE. The log said it started to 'mangle', then I got the station names, then it froze. IE wouldn't even process a song. So had to kill the processes, closed IE, then tried IE just with the Pandora website and songs started playing like normal. Closed IE and tried loading SP again and it locked. I had to go into IE Settings to uncheck the proxy so I could use IE normally. It did the same thing with FF so I'm not sure where the problem is - got any ideas? Hey btw, when is the Vista Gadget release coming out??? :P

I know a lot of you probably don't use iTunes but this is something I just noticed...I was renaming the files from MP4 to M4A so that I could just highlight and <enter> for auto-import to iTunes. What I noticed in iTunes was the time of the song was displaying incorrectly - almost double the actual playtime, but I could live with it. BUT I didn't realize that if I either imported or dragged the actual .MP4 file into iTunes, it would show the correct playtime. Stupid me! So I guess I'm not gonna have to rename these files from here on! ZZJ - I know I've asked this before - I'm still getting the wrong album cover art placed into the MP4 files. I know you said you were caching it...I find a file album.png in the saved files directory which is the album cover that has been tagged to each MP4 from that session. SP is running now; I viewed 2 files in this current session and they contain the .PNG file. I just deleted the .PNG file, and I now looked at 2 files that were saved after the deletion and those .MP4s do not have any cover art. Does anyone know if this might be a Vista file protection problem or is it just me lol ??? And I do hope you are getting some sleep, ZZJ!

Hey ZZJ: I thot I'd give blacklisting a try. There are just over 5k songs in my list, and it's just artist and song title - no directories - so it's pretty clean. As soon as I started up, looks like the first 2 songs went turbo-mode, but from then on turbo mode shut down. It's playing the songs like it was meant to do. Here's a log capture. Hey bud - question ... if the system tells me that a flash file is causing the system to run slow and shud it continue or cancel, is this because of Pandora and Flash? It makes the system run like sludge unless I stop Pandora and reboot. Is anyone else having this problem? I am using the most recent Adobe Flash. Thx.

I'll update the graphic in a bit. Hey ZZJ - not sure what graphic you are referring to, but can you check the album artwork that's being saved ... I noticed you are caching it but where too? I noticed a bunch of files I grabbed the other day all have the same artwork but are all wrong. Thx!

I was referring to the line right below my question, which is your mp4tags.exe executed line, specifically referring to the -w and -c fields.... And, would it be difficult for you to make the field options in the mp4tags.exe program options for us to either blank out or put in our own static data? But I didn't care based on the number of songs I got vs. 2 incorrect.

Just some questions for ya ... What is the "Got audio url" x 4 below? I also see in the http -a-1.pandora and -1-2.pandora but all is good so I'm just curious what goes on. Is this true and necessary? I ask because I rename my files [down the road] from .MP4 to .M4A, so if you sniff the file and the file name matches, will it still try to rewrite my .M4A file? AND - if you remember - I edit the tags and image with information when the song originally was released. E.g. "Friends" from Elton John's Greatest Hits album changes to his "Friends" album with the cover art of that release. If mp4tags.exe is rewriting the file, it will overwrite my customized edits. Do you notice the double "\\" in my examples? I'm guessing it's because the PandoraSaver Settings Folder Structure puts in a "\" even if left blank. FYI I am running Vista Business and .NET 3.5 SP1, IE8 and just recently Firefox. I did run into a hiccup/error with Fiddler (sorry I rushed and forgot to save stuff but will next time). It had something to do with a problem with scripting on the page, and it went back to saving .DAT files, lots of em. Is this the bug you were talking about?

I entered that into IE, clicked, went into Fiddler and clicked, etc. But I still am seeing everything going thru Fiddler and yeah it can get real sluggish. I turned on turbo mode again and yes it says "Full auto song download is currently enabled." hey ZZJ - did you check your PayPal? Let me know cuz I show it as going thru. Hope that helps some (?) I tried turning on the Turbo mode again and I got all those .DAT files piling up so I turned it off and new files were nicely named correctly. Is there any way to make Fiddler ignore everything other than pandora's website? It slows my whole system down when I am working in IE (ok I am playing poker in myspace) ... I still get the "are you there" even though I've got the setting on 30 minutes and only using one browser window for Pandora. All this is with your most recent upload from the 6th I think??? Thanks!

ummm yeah WMP=Windows Media Player ... think I'm a numbnut??? ( did i look stupid or what?) Found the never-play edit in their blog just where you said it would be. [again I knew that! ] Did find out that it is a 30-day period for the skip-a-month and not calendar so I got to wait a few more weeks. Also noticed that if I turned on TURBO BOOST (watched Knight Rider last night), it started downloading files faster than I could comprehend, BUT left them in temp.DAT mode so I turned it off and had to listen and manually update file names. I tell you these programmers! ( ) Other than that, what can I say. Is there a PayPal site I can send u a donation to or an address I can mail a Starbucks card, ZZJ? Someone deserves a cup of coffee for just listening to me hahaha! And afterall, I paid $ to others for less than 10% of the quality I've gotten here, free. Hey, I'm in Hawaii. We still live in grass shacks. Internet? Do you know what wi-fi looks like here? Remember those big aluminum antennas you used to use to catch TV stations with? SomethingToChatWith - you referenced WMP 12. The downloaded (free) version I have is 5.541 - are you guys suggesting I get the Pro version? In the Fiddler2 Settings, I don't quite understand...I have it set to Reload Hour but I notice that Pandora will [still] stall and ask if I am still there. I thought that was a workaround. (I am going to review previous posts to look for any help references to ZZJ's 1005 version.) Even though I uncheck Log duplicate songs on disk and checked OK, it still is checked when I open settings back up. And, becuase I was using a different method of saving the streamed song files prior to finding HAK5, I had clicked many songs in Pandora with the Don't Play till next month option (I had hundreds of dupe song files that got named (2), (3), (4), etc. LOL because there was no dupe file check - and this is a program I actually paid money for...sigh...so is there any way of undoing the Don't Play in Pandora or just with for a few more days? I'm afraid it is a 30 day calendar instead of just changing to February. Also, I have been trying to log off so that I can log back on to Pandora so I can create a new user name (in hopes of undoing the paragraph above). I deleted cookies and stuff but I cannot get to Pandora's home page or get to a point where I can create a user account. As always, thanks!

So ZZJ - since iTunes limits AAC, what would be the better way for me to rip my existing CD music? Winamp? I can live with the little less sound quality I guess; limitation is based on portability of my 8gb Touch. That's why I'm moving my MP3 files to M4A. I'm sure the Touch (or iPods) only play back standard AAC (not Plus), so I guess I'm limited no matter what. Whadayouthink?

i don't know anything about itunes displaying the wrong song length though. displays right for me when i tested it (in itunes and winamp as well) Based on your feedback, I played the same track back in QT and it displayed the correct time. I also downloaded Winamp and it also displayed the correct play time. I'm guessing that the hubbub about iTunes handling this (newer) type of encryption cannot display the correct time. though, a note, you should be able to just add the newMusik.m3u playlist to itunes and have it catch the new songs - just rename it to something that isn't newMusik.m3u and it will start creating a new newMusik.m3u, thus allowing incremental updates. will try this by the way - if you use another player besides itunes the songs may sound MUCH better (i don't know if the latest version supports SBR, as mine is an older one, but without SBR support songs will sound very low quality. play one in winamp or something and compare the sound. I did notice an improvement with a few tracks using winamp. Gonna keep it and try it out. Being that it also will support iPods, I will check that out as well. My wife uses a Sansa player which is a great little player - but only supports MP3s so I will convert to MP3 128k for her as she is not as critical as I am. Can only fit so much in 8gb. maybe i should add an option for using m4a instead of mp4 (extension)... Again - thanks for your help and feedback!

I'm pretty new to all this stuff. I think it is just great, though. Thank you for the wonderful little presents I've found here! I go through a few steps (sometimes anal, but then again) ... I'm prepared to receive some "wtf are you doing it that way for" or "why". Guess I do have my rhymes and reasons altho I do question myself at times. This is my process with questions along the way: Files gets saved to a general folder I copy the MP4 files to a temp folder, REName them to .M4A, add them into iTunes, then move them back to the general folder (so I can tell which are new files by the MP4 extention, and the software will still find the filename to prevent dupes which is great. The music 'time' is just over twice the actual length of the song - is this a Pandora issue? When I rip CDs to the AAC format directly in iTunes, the recorded time is displayed correctly. I'm OK with the 64bit rip. I have always thought that I have a pretty keen ear for music. I can live with how they turn out quality-wise (when compared with MP3 rips from CDs of the same song at 256 or VBR). (don't stomp on me too hard for this lol) ... I spend hours trying to find the album that the song was originally released on. So even those 'Greatest Hits' are reorg'd and I try to find the original album cover and use that in iTunes. Afterall, You Should Be Dancing by the Bee Gees was from the record Saturday Night Fever. Now I can see that album artwork instead. Question with that is (sorry, iTunes question coming) - does the M4A (and MP3) files contain the lyrics and artwork, or are they stored within iTunes? And being that I have sooo many folders in my iTunes music directory because of the artist and albums, does this really slow things down? Or should I turn off the iTunes music organization feature off and put everything in one big iTunes folder? Thanks again and keep up the great work!
