  1. It's a fake thats not the board inside notice where the cord comes in the box in the background. Its pushed under.

    Also notice that he does not take it out of the box so you can see the PCB he took out.

    I hate creeps like that. They make up cock and bull stories just to stir up the masses. Besides even if it were possible it would take years to go over all of the footage from everyones house. It's just not feasible.

  2. Oh, ok I will try that. Thanks

    (Edit) I got it to work finally. I had to tell Netbeans to create and store the Jar file so I could use it But I cannot acces it directly I have ti use this command to do it.

    java -jar "C:\Documents and Settings\Home_Directory\My Documents\NetBeansProjects\Example1\dist\Example1.jar"

    Otherwise, I get an error.

  3. One problem that I am running into is that I cannot run complied source code from a command line when I create it from Netbeans 6.5.

    Netbeans shows the correct output for

    public class Example2 {

    public static void main (String args[]) {

    System.out.println("This is the first line");

    System.out.println ("This is the secondline");

    }

    }

    But when I go to the folder that holds the class file for Example2 and run it from the command line I get this:

    ld\classes\example2>java Example2

    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Example2 (wrong name:

    example2/Example2)

    Could not find the main class: Example2. Program will exit.

    Is there something I missed?

  4. c'mon, when did this happen?! j/k.

    My LAPTOP get's hotter than shit on my lap, but um... thats kinda the point of my 'portable computer' is to sit on my lap. The laptop WAS only made origionally to be a space saving alt. to the desktop, BUT it has turned into the LapTop, weather anyone wants to agree or not. But even still it is pointless to blah blah about legalities and etc. as far as legalities anyway, all a company has to say for the most part is you must have 'misused' your equiptment, and have something to back it up and they win. So who cares? My laptop get's super hot in my lap. It's an AMDX2 1.9ghz, of course it's going to get hot. Battery stays cool as a cucumber. I think china may have been the bottom line to the issue with the blowing up battery (as is most of the time, for lead based, and carcenogen based products in plastics and etc).

    But of course I DO take very much care of my laptop, and ALWAYS give the vent fan space (and it's easy enough to do, just keep it on the rt. side of my lap :D).

    Makes me wonder... Are MacBooks really super sturdy and reliable peices of eq. or is it just that since it costs 2 arms and a leg to buy one, that people are afraid to even look at it wrong :P...

    Well at least you take care of it. Most of the users that I had to deal with when I worked for an insurance company treated the company notebooks like crap. Missing keys, food spewed all over the screen and palmrest, cracked LCD Bezel. Some of them put their notebooks in there bags and treat them like a diskus and end up breaking the screen. I think that they should have to pay for the repairs fir treating them so badly, but thats just my opinion.

  5. I was working on my roommates computer today because one of his HDD'd had failed. Long story short it was a Seagate 7200.11 with firmware version SD15. long story short the firmware shipped with this HDD is unstable and after a short time (6 months in this case) it died from corruputed firmware.

    While working on it I was reminded of this site:

    Hard drive sounds: http://datacent.com/hard_drive_sounds.php

    Aw man, I just thought of a dirty trick. Get those HDD recording and make them play through the PC speaker inside of someones case, Muwahahahaha!

  6. That's if the sensor is working and not damaged or turned off. But in most cases it will not burn or explode.

    Yes, I know that's the marketing potential of notebooks that you can take them almost anywhere. All I am saying is just be careful. I have had some business clients abuse theirs until the damn thing over heated and almost burned their lap. And that notebook did have a temperature sensor in it.

    About the metal shards. That was referring to the one that exploded in Japan? I take it.

  7. Just a small rant, they are not laptops (Argh!). They are called portables (As in portable computers) or notebooks. Laptop is a hard to get rid of marketing term which I cannot remember where it came from. How do I know this? I just happened to use to work for one of the biggest manufactures.

    Laptop is a dangerous term to use legally because of the number of bad things that can happen. Things like being burned by some notebooks because of the heat they generate or the battery that has a good chance to burst. Yes it still can happen.

    Portables were made to be put on a desk or a table (a flat surface). It is a mistake to put it on your lap because for one as mentioned above you cloths could cause the CPU and other components to overheat and after a while of the heat being applied and reapplied it will cause components to fail. Not only that the battery that you happen to be charging has a small chance of bursting if any internal damage in the cells causes a condition called a runaway.

    Some may argue that it hasn't happened to me me so it's no big deal, no worry. While that may be true the conditions described above can happen to any portable.

    That's it for me I'll get off my soap box now

    I would put more information forward about which manufacture and notebooks that are most prone to these types of failures, but unfortunately I am under a 2 year nondisclosure agreement until May 29th.

    Just be a little more cautious when putting your notebook near you lap.

    This has been eating at me for a while and I figured I would not be doing my job as a professional (and as a HAK5 fan) if I did not warn you guys.

    um... does this answer your question stingwray?!'

    btw. peep the house in the back/left, and tell me what it's made of..

    actually yes, a brick house will hold up better, and that's just common sense, but the point is, is that if it's a good enough tornado, it doesnt matter wtf your in unless your underground.

    That is so true brick houses do not fair much better against a tornado. Reinforced concrete does prevent flying debris, but not much can help against a direct hit

    As for it's a could statement I'll show you what that "cloud" did tomorrow when the police open up the roads. I can post more pictures if you want but there is not much to see other than dark gray clouds. My Sony DSC - H1 can only do so much. I 'll have to wait until tomorrow to get better pictures.

    If you guy want to look it up on kfor.com in Oklahoma. I am a few blocks away from where it hit in Oklahoma City.

  9. This was the most scariest yet awesome moments of my life. I heard the air raid sirens and looked outside and saw a white cigar shaped cloud flying horizontally over my house. For a moment I was like a deer in headlights. After a few second I shouted at my roommate we are going to need to take cover. And what was he doing! Playing left for dead what kind of moron plays video game when you about to be hit by (Count'em) 4 tornado's.

    You may argue that I was the one outside taking pictures, but atleast I knew when to take cover.

    Anyway here is one of the pictures I took as it was about to touch down, it was about 5 block away from me when it touched down. In the picture I am almost looking up almost through the bottom. It was still forming so you cannot see inside (The white cloud in the center)

  10. Wow, it's nice to meet people with a good taste in music. I listen to almost every genre out there and sometimes get stuck, like last month when I went on a Frank Sinatra (And Jr) streak.

    By the way here is a link to my brother-in-laws band The Revolve: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...iendID=25569209

    I can't help, but plug them. They are an awesome band. Every once in a while they will come back to play in Oklahoma City. I hope you guy's enjoy them.

  12. whooh... where do i start...

    at the lowest level you have to look at an ethernet packet and the general reason why ethernet works.

    Ethernet IS the heart of the internet/web/any form of networking.

    Ethernet does not just specify wired connections. Ethernet IS a generalized spec of networking.

    It is first essential to know the process of networking from the system level to the signal level, which is defined by the 7 layer osi model.

    Ill just type it and you read it.

    7.Application -- data--------software (i.e. email/irc/etc)

    6.Presentation - data-------software (browser/xml/etc)

    5.Session ------data--------protocols/os/etc (connects software layers [or layers 7 and 6] to the lower layers)

    4.Transport ----- segment--ports -------------routers (if configured this way), or something like a firewall

    3.Network ------ packet-----ip addresses-----routers/switches(some)

    2.Datalink ------- frame-----mac--------------nic cards *all nics have a mac*/hubs/etc,

    1.Physical ------- bit ---------signal on copper/glass/atmosphere--cat5, fiber optic cable, and wifi/sat. etc.

    It would have been great to have the TCP layers next to the 7 Layer OSI model, but that may have confused some people especially if the layers involved in UDP were displayed.

    who's up for some subnetting?
