Ubuntu is free...
I was talking about AVG
-
The install on my eeePC broke for some reason :(. Tried to install AVG and after that BSOD 5 minuets after startup. Put Ubuntu back on it.
You got what you paid for with AVG I had to deal with that every day in tech support because people did not want to pay AVG $150 for support. I have always been a Norton fan boy myself 2009 works fine in 7
-
I downloaded it on the day it came out, it took about 4 to 5 hours for each (32 and 64bit), installed it the next day and loving every minute of it or at least until I have to install it again when the final release comes out. (Thank you MSDN subscription)

I went ahead and tried Arctic Silver 3 and now I am enjoying Quad Core goodness :D
-
Well, I am ordering an OEM Q6600 so it's not going to come with the crappy heatsink. Although the thermal paste has net set on it I still have my Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro. Which is not the best but it keeps the idle and the load temps down. I have never seen the need to overclock. With my luck I would probably fry the sucker and that would be $192 down the drain.
-
I was looking into the version jump from 3 to 5 and the reason is, is that Acrtic Silver is made in Japan and because 4 is synonymous with death, so they named it Arctic Silver 5.
-
Hey, guys I am buying a Q6600 and was wondering about the right thermal paste. I do have a tube of Arctic Silver 3, but I thought about buying a new tube of Arctic Silver 5 or Shin-Etsu X23-7783D. The question is will the Arctic silver 3 do the job or should I purchase some new compound?
-
No, the ATCS 220B could not keep up with the cooling because it was too small. The reason I bought the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro (plug) was that the crappy Intel stock fan came loose and the mounting pegs were not locking. My CPU now stays pretty cool 44 - 48 (According to Speed Fan). Although the thermal compound has not set just yet so I will have to wait for it to cure to get a better reading.
The 3 230mm and 5 120mm fans keep everything nice and cool, Now i just need to find a good Fan Header (Controller) for all the bloody fans so I am not using up all the Molex connectors.
If I ever do something that stupid GCNinja you have my permission to pistol whip me.

Cool but a bit too flashy for me

I finally got around to installing (Transplanting) the hardware from my old Mid Tower into the 840 and found the the 12v rail the goes to the CPU was 1 1/2 inches too short. I spent 3 hours looking for an extension. I did not want to wait so I bought another PSU. So I went home and installed it and the 12 volt connector was just long enough to fit. I had to use a cable tie to keep it off the Heatsink.
But that was not the end of it when I turned the power on it only stayed on for thirty minutes, KHAN!! After an hour or to trying to figure out which component was the culprit. I noticed trough the hole that was cut out in the back of the mobotray that the stand offs for my stock Core 2 Duo were not in all the way and sure enough the back of the mobo was hot. Damn it, now I got to go out and spend more money. Damn you Intel and your crappy stock fans.

When you look at the picture you can see the people in the street looking at it. Does it mean aliens no, it's just a Unidentified Flying Object. That being said take a gander:

If the image does not work just look up Wolverley Street in England. Look above the Bus Stop and just above the Coral sign

ok in my defense, I have no job or money income. There is no get another card. lol. I just have these two with the exception of a couple other crap cards.
Oh ok that explains things.
Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.

acually I take that back. Cod5 is not running that great on the ati. Im going to try the BFG (Nvidia) Tomarrow.
You are not going to make much headway with any of those video cards. If you wanna go cheap get an 8800 GT.
Those two cards that you mentioned are too old (4 years). Also do your self a favor and look at the system requirements for a game and use the recommended video card if you can.

Well at least in stayed in one piece.

AVAST is not bad at all. AVG is just one big headache or one waiting to happen. For the most part is a user ever need help from a free Anti-Virus they are usually charged a pretty penny for services. Remember there is no such thing as a free lunch.
