So I was reading around and I read that you should use a powered USB hub for the Wifi Pineapple. However, the post I found was in 2012 so I am unsure if this is still needed. I would like to know if I should get a powered USB Hub, or if it even matters with the Wifi Pineapple Nano. If I should, would the item from Amazon okay? So I just received my new Mark IV last week and finally got a little time to play. Setup was smooth and no problems adding USB storage but I wanted additional ports to use the Alfa and storage at once (and maybe some addtional goodies later on...) So I bought the Hak5 powered USB hub and got it in the mail today. First I checked if the hub was going to backfeed to the Pineapple and after confirming it was I opened the case and snipped the red + wire. Now the hub works great and no backfeeding but there's a new problem. Now I can't get the Alfa to initialize (although USB storage still works fine through the hub). It works fine when plugged directly into the Pineapple's USB and when plugged into my laptop through the USB hub. Has anyone had this problem before? Any ideas of how to get it working? Interestingly wlan1 shows up in the Network Manager on the web interface but trying to enable it causes the Pineapple to freeze up and then reboot (ifconfig after seeing it on the web interface causes the same freezup). For this testing I have the wall adapter powering the Pineapple and the Juice pack powering the hub (the Juice isn't the problem since this works find when plugged into my laptop and is recognized correctly). If I have the Alfa/USB hub plugged in at boot the Pineapple never finishes initialization (I have to unplug the hub to let it boot up.) Thanks in advance for your help.

As this is my first post I will just quickly say hello to everyone. I have been on these forums before and it has a great community. Now for my question. I've purchased my pineapple few weeks ago and what I am trying to do is create a device that I am able to control it via wireless. Stick it in my bag and forget about it. I've done all the necessary configuration but I have a quick question regarding my USB powered hub. I have purchased this hub. It has 7 ports rather than 4 but it's pretty much the same. I connect my pineapple to a battery powerpack through a DC cable and then connect the HUB to my pineapple via USB. What happens is that the pineapple seems to be powering the HUB and all the peripheral devices attached to it. Everything works fine. I am just wondering whether this is the correct way of doing it and can the pineapple be damaged in any way? You can see the current setup although this Linksys adapter will be replaced by Alfa. Hey everyone, First question, is it possible to make a DHCP reservation? So instead of having to force the IP 172.16.42.42 (and afterwards removing it again) it would just get it assigned. Second question: Any suggestions for a powered usb hub? Two ports would be enough to tether and have a usb for storage connected connected. Third question: Can the pineapple handle running tcpdump and sslstrip at the same time? I seemed to work however tcpdump said it dropped a bunch of packets. Thanks!
