thesilvester
I have a problem with the proxy settings on my computer. When I try to use a program that needs to connect to the internet they can't. They all give me the same error saying that it is behind a proxy and can't connect to the internet. My main problem is that I can't connect to the itunes music store. I haven't made any changes to the proxy settings. BTW Firefox still is able to connect.

digip
I am running windows xp service pack 2. I have no proxy software installed(i did use cproxy a long time ago for a project). What ISP are you using? I know my neighbors Verizon DSL runs through a remote router/proxy setup, but that probably isnt going to be related to your problem. One thing to check is if Internet Explorer is set to use a proxy, and if all other programs have a setting that says somethign like "use browsers proxy". Don't know how that could have been set if you using Fire Fox, but worth a shot. I know windows media player can be set to use th eproxy settings from internet explorer, so that is why I am asking. Any other things that might be out of place? Any recent programs installed, funky emails, etc.. Did you scan for virii, spyware/malware, etc?
