i need help updating the yard stick one firmware.

so, i dont know whats wrong i tried updating the YS1 but i would get a error

File "/usr/local/lib/python3.8/site-packages/rfcat-1.9.2-py3.8.egg/EGG-INFO/scripts/rfcat_bootloader", line 22
    print "Writing", line[:-1],
          ^
SyntaxError: Missing parentheses in call to 'print'. Did you mean print("Writing", line[:-1], end=" ")?
make: *** [Makefile:371: installRfCatYS1CCBootloader] Error 1

it was because it was using python3 on a python2 script but then i tried to make all print statements python3 and then i think i bricked the YS1 because it gave errors

now it cant detect the YS1 but dmesg with YS1 in bootloader mode can so not all is lost.

rfcat has basically no documentation

There is some documentation of the firmware installation process, both with and without bootloader. I had updated mine a few years ago and used this.

Maybe worth trying this guide or at least use it as a starting point. https://roaldnefs.com/posts/2019/01/update-yard-stick-one-firmware/

EDIT - in fact, now i see that shorting the bootloader pads with a paperclip pic im pretty sure I also used that guide at some point. either way, hope it helps you.
