CaptainAnarchy
you could use a CAT: lm3914 it would be a VU meter though you could use more than one and have different color led VU meters I dunno how can you go wrong with LEDS
Ecky
Heres something in theory. You get a kit like this: http://jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=KJ...mp;SUBCATID=695 And then buy a bunch of good, high intensity leds. Then somehow (im no electronics guy) hook all of the LED's to all of the LED ports. So if 3 LED ports are activated (sound level 3) then there will be more power to the leds and hence more light. If its on 1 port (sound level 1) then there is less power and less light. Then just hook up your MP3 to the level meter and your ready to go. This, in theory, should work. I hope this can maybe be explained better by a more technical person.

Ecky
Well with an audio source it will illuminate the LEDs according to sound level. Just like on pro audio equipment.

Justin Ewing
it flashes different color lights to the different beats in the music
a5an0
it flashes different color lights to the different beats in the music I think that the difficulty that you'll have in building that will outweigh paying $40 for one....
