mimo Posted January 28, 2018 Share Posted January 28, 2018 Good evening, I upgraded my nano via the web interface from version 1.0.2 (I think it was this one) to the latest one 2.0.2. Before everything worked nice, but after the upgrade I am not able to connect to the open wifi, the "victim" one, anymore. I get an authentication problem with android and windows. That seems to be really strange since the network is open. But I have no problems to connect to the administration network and to configure the nano. I also did a reset via the web panel, but no success. Do you have an advice for me how to fix this problem? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Its not a bug, in latest Firmware release the default setting of the Client filter is set to "Allow mode" so requires MAC addresses of devices you want to allow access. This is a wise move from the manufacturer as this actually puts responsibility back to the user to use the device legally out of the box. And some new users may not have even known what they were doing. It can be changed and you can still allow any device to connect... but thats on you, not Hak5. Does the AP returns the reason for the authentication error (wrong password or wrong mac address) or no detailed information? After changing it it worked again. Tried everything, reflash firmware (2.0.2), factory reset, changing Client to Deny Mode, adding MAC in allow mode,... Always get a "Authentication Error" when connecting via WIFI.
