golfing22
So after seeing the folding@home mod for the USB Switchblade, I've been interested in creating a USB switchblade mod that turned the machine into a "dedicated" bit-torrent seeder. The mod would probably first, copy the .torrent file, the files for the torrent, and a bit-torrent client, to somewhere on the hard drive, then make the client autorun on startup. What I need to find now is a small bit-torrent client that runs silently, and can be started via command line without the user noticing. If anybody has any suggestions or wants to help me, PM me on IRC or the forums (username=golfing22) or email me at golfing22 AT gmail DOT com
Dr Zaius
http://www.utorrent.com/ It's small, lightweight and can load torrent files from the command line, it can also be set to run completely hidden from the command line.
golfing22
thanks for the suggestion, I didn't realize utorrent was as good as it really is. The feature I really like is the "Auto-Load Torrents", it will be very useful in my USB mod. EDIT: The only problem is that utorrent stores it's settings in the registry which would make things a lot harder for the usb switchblade mod. Actually I believe it stores all data in the application data folder, but regardless importing registry entries wouldn't be a problem. There is an easy workaround though, create a blank file called "settings.dat" or copy an existing one to the same directory as utorrent.exe and all settings will be saved there instead, utorrent will run completely independent. golfing22
spektormax seems to have a great bit-torrent client that communicates to you via IRC server, so as long as AVG/Norton/Avast/etc don't see it as a virus, it will work great.
