pg94 Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 I am a freshmen in college and I want to enter the cyber security field. I want to apply for internships my junior year. My question to all the pro's out there, what is the best advice you could give me? To define the question I mean what open source projects, certifications, skills, and ect should I master to put on my applications? I want to stand out, I want to have the edge. Thanks for taking your time to read my post. ~ PG Quote
Mr-Protocol Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 To sum it up into one sentence. Get an in depth understanding of networks, programming, databases, and some background on code execution layers. I'm not in security but I can imagine these concepts would be a good start, possibly in that order. Quote
Jamo Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 Yep - you need to understand how "stuff" works, before you can exploit it. I ended up studying Computer Science in a rather good university, just because I was interested in security etc... :) Quote
Bountyhunter50 Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 I agree with everyone else. Read up on what's out there as far as security, etc. And how it works. Then Go from there! Quote
