haroo
I'm having trouble getting internet to my pineapple. I have tried both windows and ubuntu. i have had it up and running perfect in both OS's. But since the update to 2.7.5 i have had this issue. bit its strange because when i ssh into the pineapple i can ping google.com and others just fine. but if i try to wget or download a module it doesnt work. when i click reveal public ip on status page or List available Infusions (aka modules) from the pineapple bar it sits there for a spell then i get a white webpage saying the following Bad GatewayThe process did not produce any response also if i try to issue the command opkg update it tries to download the update then fails. but once again as i said it can ping outword. Any helkp would be awesome. Haroo
stealthkit
Did you set up your internet sharing on the pineapple?
NullNull
Are you sure that the ping returns google's ip? Are you using wp4.sh for your to connection with ubuntu? I had some problems with that.. I was wireless connected to my home wifi and through ethernet to my pineapple. After running wp4.sh i was able to ping both pineapple and my home's router but didn't have internet connection from neither. The problem was that pineapplegw=`netstat -nr | awk 'BEGIN {while ($3!="0.0.0.0") getline; print $2}' was returnig pineapple's gateway "172.16.42.1" and i had to manually type my internet gateway "192.168.2.1"
haroo
yes i did use the script and it was working fine before the update. im going to look firther into it to see what else the issue may be when i have a chance. ICS was both setup and working on ubuntu and windows prior to update
haroo
im still having this issue. reverted to 2.7.0 today as i though the update is what caused this.... it was not. so i have my pineapple facing NIC set to 172.16.42.42 255.255.255.0 no gateway dns 8.8.8.8 internet facing NIC is online sharing is set up and pointed to the pineapple facing NIC as per guide in wiki and book windows did change the ip on the pineapple facing nic to 192.168.137.1 after enabling ICS but i changed it back to what it should be. Still have the same issue Any more thoughts on this would be awesome Haroo
Mr-Protocol
You are plugged into the PoE port (one closest to the DC Power jack) correct? Your computer should have a static address.
haroo
yes im plugged into lan / poe my internet facing adapter needs to be static as well as my pineapple facing adapter? Haroo
stealthkit
Did you set ICS on the Pineapple? The easiest way would be to use WM's "Network Manager" and click on the ICS tab in the module. Enable at boot and share "Eth0" to "br-lan. If you are going to be using the "MITM" module then "eth0" to "wlan0 or however you want it to be set up. One other thing is check you IP settings again in command prompt. Issue "ipconfig" and just double check. The last guy I fixed needed to turn on Internet Sharing again. Not sure why it turned off but it might be worth a look to see if it is an easy fix. Is your laptop connected to a wireless network because if it lost its connection you will need to reconnect it. Let me know if you can ping these from your laptop. ping www.google.com ping 172.16.42.42 ping 172.16.42.1 The ping to Google should tell me if you have a good wireless connection but if you could ping your ISPs default gateway ( More that likely 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 ) it would help get an understanding of your network connectivity. Hope this makes sense -Stealthkit

haroo
i know im asking alot of stupid questions... but... so now in ubuntu when i plug the pineapple into eth0 i lose the ability to use internet on my laptop. as soon as i unplug it it works. is there a way i can set my defult connection in ubuntu? it seems as soon as it sees that i have a connection on eth0 i only uses eth0 and not wlan0 for anything
haroo
i just ran the script again and then manually set my ip,subnet, dns in ubuntu and all my ubuntu issues are resolved. this still does nto help me understand the windows issues i thought the script set the ip ip eth0 in ubuntu for me. maybe it does maybe it doesnt ? strange because it was working then not. and now i set the up manualy and it works now. haroo
ok windows issue was AVG firewall blocking it. got it now. its strange that it was working before and then all of a sudden stopped. im starting to question my AVG internet security business / corporate edition as it should have never let it work instead of letting it work then not. if it was something malicious then it would have allowed it for a bit lol Thanks for all the help!
