sylent
this might be a stupid question but, when i open my DOS window it says "C:Documents and SettingsHP_Owner>" is there anyway i could make it say just "C:>"?
pseudobreed
Copy and paste the code into a .reg file Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftCommand Processor] "Autorun"="CD /D C:Windows" Change the Autorun value to the path that you want cmd to start in. Leave the "CD /D " part. That tells the console to CD, then go to a path. Use "" as an escape character.

Lith1um
Copy and paste the code into a .reg file Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftCommand Processor] "Autorun"="CD /D C:Windows" Change the Autorun value to the path that you want cmd to start in. Leave the "CD /D " part. That tells the console to CD, then go to a path. Use "" as an escape character. In WindowsXP professional, registry editor 5.1 its in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftCommand Processor] And for going to the command prompt (C:) all you need to put in the Autorun string value is "CD" (without the ""). Cheers.
pseudobreed
Local Machine will effect everyone. Current User will only effect, well the current user. Also, if you change this your batch scripts will not work unless in your batch you call by the full path name (ie C:Scriptsnircmd.exe not nircmd.exe that is in the root directory).
